So the offer might not even be north of $200 million.

Cashman should be all over this. Machado is 26 years old. A 7 year deal takes him to age 33. That is more than reasonable. He would significantly improve the defense at 3B. You turn around and package Gray and Andujar for an ace.

I can see this argument when it comes to Machado.

As for Harper, he'll never live up to the contract he's commanding, and I can see why the 28 other teams are noping right on out of there.

Harper - 30.7 WAR. Machado - 30.2 WAR. Since 2012 when they both made their debuts. So your theory about Machado being a better player is a myth.

Harper's total is buoyed by one Trout-like season that he's never sniffed again.

Yeah that's all I could see...I was like..wtf is he doing.
The video cuts off right as he is throwing for every clip with the exception of the beginning and you see him do that double clutch bs which his achilles heel. That is one of his bigger issues aside from his range.

Serious question: As impressive and consistent as Machado has been, aren’t any of you concerned over his AL East and September splits?

It’s not like he hasn’t had lineup protection. Obviously not NYY lineup protection, but Davis, Jones and Schoop made up a good safety net.

Another thing is doubling the salary with a long-term deal for a guy with a questionable work ethic, and in a market where he can statistically hide behind Judge and Stanton.

Seems like the guy who eventually would ignore the boos and just be happy to get a check. Wouldn’t mind being wrong but he just doesn’t excite me all that much.

Andujar is brutal in the field but his preparation and work ethic for a player of any age, let alone a kid, is exceptional. Makes me lean towards keeping him and using the Tulo/DJ experiment.

Not concerned with his splits. I am somewhat concerned with his 'i don't hussle' comment in the middle of a playoff series. Could be nothing but could also be an example of a guy getting lazy after he gets his big payday.

He is still double clutching in that video...
Lol I noticed that too.

This team can't compete with Boston Houston and LA if we have defenders like Andujar on the field. It's a cold reality, but something that really needs to be addressed.

I love Andujar. I think his defense can improve, he is still young. But double clutching is like the cardinal sin for an infielder and he needs to break that habit soon

Double clutching is obviously fixable. Lack of range is the real concern.

I would argue range can be improved with much better footwork and constant repetition of ‘if this happens, then what do i do’....that can be worked on verbally. Theyre both bad. Double clutching is a mental exhaustion when trying to break the habit. It gets in your head and starts messing up your arm angles on throws as you transition.

Bottom line is he has a lot of work to do

Just connecting dots here...

But seriously...Gray is a perfect fit for Petco Park. His salary is more than affordable. Less than Kluber, younger, while still likely to produce great results..they get their 3B in Andujar.

Yankees have not publicly stated they are out in Machado. Industry reporters refuse to rule them out because they havent heard anything.

Dots.
