In the past day rumors have indicated other teams such as the Rays and Dodgers being interested in LeMahieu.. out of nowhere the Yanks sign him.

Forget Machado for a second..

LeMahieu is primarily a 2B. I dont see how he fits. A Righty bat who is 30 years old, 31 in July.

He hasnt played 3B since 2014 which was for 7 games....

Makes zero f***ing sense

f***ing joke

It's just like the Lowrie signing for the Mets although he's younger but not quite as good. He's a useful player who can play multiple positions. He provides nice flexibility and definitely strengthens the teams depth.

*In Coors Field. He's a career .330/.387/.445 in Coors and .264/.311/.362 outside.

Coors effect. He's a below average hitter. Career 90 wRC+...

Well that sucks. Maybe they're not out on Machado yet?

Its an absolute joke. ITS A JOKE.

This team’s window is now.

He is not nearly as good a hitter outside of Coors.

For a team that bitches about spending money (all of the sudden) they just signed a guy for $11 million per to be a Utility/Backup? You couldve gotten someone a lot cheaper to do that. Galvis. Escobar.

Unf***ing real

He's still useful though. He's a good fielder and Yankee Stadium could be a nice fit for him since he basically only hits to RF.

Cashman has failed miserably at making moves to put this team over the top.
I have to agree. I mean there is some good but its not good enough when youre trying to be great. Its especially not good enough when you have not one but TWO 26 year old superstars on the free agent market that will not require you to give up assets.

Machado is a lights out defender at 3B. He is an incredible hitter. A talent. I have nothing against DJ LeMahieu but to pay $11 million per for utility/backup makes zero f***ing sense. Zero.

If Tulo is healthy he is going to play bottom line.

Unless they trade Andujar I dont know how this all works out, even without Machado.

I have nothing against LeMahieu...he is a fine player..

I have everything against the direction this office brass is going and how they are opting to try and play the smart savvy card at this time when the team’s window to win a champioship is right now. This is not the time to try a different approach. Not with this group

I’ll save everyone the trouble of watching the upcoming season: Red Sox win the division, Yankees make the Wild Card game and either lose the play in game or get smoked by the Red Sox in the first round again. There’s literally no point in watching. Did the Space Jam monsters possess Cashman and Steinbrenner? #EvilEmpire #MoreLikeSpaceballs

The Yankees improved the staff with Paxton. They will have Happ for a full year. The Rays will be decent but the other two will be terrible. Full year of Britton. We may add Ottavino as well.

Think Yanks win the division.

I also think they end up trading Andujar as part of a package for a #1/2.

But that is why it was important to sign Machado.

Now if they sign Machado, trade Andujar & Gray as part of a package for Kluber with Padres involved, I will be satisfied.

But this is no “operational death star”

and you think they've hoarded prospects? If anything I think they've been too cavalier at trading players away.

Yup, and I don't think the timing when they've moved guys has been right at all.

The biggest spending spree they went on prospect wise was a few years ago when they were struggling and decided that they wanted to lock up the WC. Funny enough, one of those moves ended up being pretty key in their playoff run.

Now you have a team thats pretty well established and considered a contender, you've shaved a ton of money off of your payroll. What exactly are you waiting for?

If you're not going to spend on free agency, there is zero reason to make certain prospects untouchable, like high upside OF's who haven't spent significant time above A ball.

Guess the Yankees don't plan on signing any top free agents in the future. Can't even be bothered to make legitimate offers to Corbin or Machado despite "interest" and don't have any room for Bryce Harper because too many outfielders or something.
