David Waldstein*@DavidWaldsteinFollowFriend of Beltran's says he is "over the moon" to finally be a Yankee.

MLB PLAYERS NHL EQUIVALENTS
Ellsbury ???
Beltran ???
McCann ???
Kuroda ???

fill in the blanks please

For what Beltran got wouldn't it have made more sense to have brought Grandy back?

I hated Granderson when he was here. Even hitting 40 homers doesn't mask the fact that every other at bat was completely unproductive. He is also overrated in the field. Gardner and Ellsbury are far superior to him, as is Beltran, now.

This is extremely difficult, which is why no one is really answering.

McCann is arguably the best catcher in all of baseball. Certainly top 3 at his position over the last bunch of years...probably even the past decade. So elite goalie i guess.

Kuroda is a good middling starter. So like a good second liner i guess?

Ellsbury is one of the best outfielders in the game, when healthy. Marian Gaborik but more consistent?

Beltran is aging but is absolutely fantastic and even better when the pressure is one. He is likely a hall of fame player...Maybe jarome iginla, but better currently then i believe iginla is, so maybe iginla of like 3 years ago?

Edit: I like the Selanne comparison better, but he's probably more productive in comparison then Selanne. Beltran is still pretty awesome, when healthy. Grabner and Ellsbury is wrong.

Gardner has value and he would fetch a starter but how could you pass up on the chance to have one of the best defensive outfields in the game?

Two things to consider:

1) if Arod is voided the current payroll won't get taxed

2) Ellsbury, Mcann, beltran and Johnson are tough players. Massive culture change. Speed, defense and plate discipline will be more prevalent than power.

I'll say it again, I loved Cano and wanted him back, he's GREAT..

but I will take Mccann/Ellsbury/Beltran at 283M over Cano alone at 240M. anyday of the week, not even factoring in 1 was a 10 year deal.

McCann is not close to the best catcher in baseball. He does not measure up to Yadier Molina or Buster Posey in any way shape or form. Mauer's moving to first base, but he also vastly outperformed McCann in years past. Over the last five years McCann has accumulated 12.5 bWAR. Over that same period Mauer accumulated 24.7 bWAR. Hell, Molina (12.6) and Posey (12.6) have more bWAR in their last two seasons than McCann does in his last five.
