OT: MLB Discussion Thread Part III: Jeter announces retirement after 2014

I think we need to add atleast 1 infielder

We could use a SP & with the plethora of bullpen guys available I hope they strengthen the bullpen at a reduced price this offseason.
 
**** yes. Why didn't they sign him - what was it, 8 years ago? - when he was willing to take less to come here? I don't recall the rationale. LOVE this player - has always been one of my favorite non-Yankees. Silky smooth in the field and at bat.
 
This is a jigsaw puzzle of a lineup. I assume Beltran's the DH.

LF: Gardner
CF: Ellsbury
RF: Soriano
1B: Teixeira
2B: ???
SS: Jeter
3B: ???
C: McCann
DH: Beltran

I guess Ichiro goes to the bench. Can Wells play a reasonable facsimile of infield defense? Can Soriano still play second at all?

Your 2B is Kelly Johnson. 3B is still TBD.

1. Ellsbury CF
2. Jeter SS
3. Teixeira 1B
4. Soriano DH
5. Beltran RF
6. McCann C
7. 3B??
8. Johnson 2B
9. Gardner CF

who knows if they trade gardner now as hes got a lot of value but is a FA next year and we could still go with a Soriano Ellsbury Beltran outfield. I'd prefer to keep him unless we get blown away with a great offer for Brett the Jet.

Two CF. It's crazy but it just might work.
 
i dont know a whole lot about baseball but seeing these signings by the yankees im curious to know just how good these players are that they are signing could anyone make an approximate mlb to NHL player comparison for all these guys showing the significance of these signings?
