what? choo will be paid alot more than Grandy. did we forger who his agent is?
I think people seriously overestimate an agents impact on what their client gets. Choo will get a lot of money because he's a really good player.

LF - Gardner
CF - Ellsbury
RF - Choo
3B - Wells
SS - Jeter
2B - Soriano
1B - Teixeira
C - McCann
DH - Ichiro

STACKED.

Assuming Choo is aboard, if we're healthy we're looking at something like

CF-Ellsbury
SS-Jeter
RF-Choo
1B-Teixeira
DH-Soriano
C-McCann
3B-Johnson
2B-Some Guy
LF-Gardner

That's a hell of a lineup.

Getting killed by lefty pitching has been a problem for some time. I hope Cashman goes out and gets a decent righty bat to have around. And not Vernon Smells.

I'd love to get Nelson Cruz. Big RHB, power the other way so lots of Yankee Stadium HRs. Sign Choo, Cruz. Call take-backsies on Ellsbury.

I've always liked Cashman as the gm but I just don't know how you can sign Ellsbury and not bring back your best player.

think I would rather go higher AAV to try for Beltran on a 2 yr deal.. switch hitter, so he would give us a RH bat

Im not blaming Cashman for this one, its been reported Cano told some teammates that he was going to the highest bidder period, he chased the money. 100M reasons why they picked Ellsbury in the end.

I think Choo will get vastly overpaid. I'm personally not a big fan… Good at everything, but great at nothing.
I agree. As a met fan i would want choo BUT only 4/60 or 5/75 type deal. He isnt worth close to 100 million

I'll gladly pay through the nose for Cano over Ellsbury. He's a much better player.

I agree… I could easily see 6 years for 120-130 million. I just don't think he's worth that. I'd much rather overpay Beltran on a 2 year deal. He's a switch hitter, he's clutch in the playoffs, and he's dealt with the NY market before.

choo or beltran + garza + tanaka if posted... ells/jeter/choo or beltran/tex/mccann/soriano/gardner/johnson/3B. CC/HK/Garza/Nova/Tanaka

If the yanks are able to sign a solid hitter and Tanaka I would be really happy.

Choo would be my first choice, but if he wants more than 80-90 million I would pass. I think Beltran on a shorter term deal would be a much better option if Choo wants too much. Or I would try to trade for someone like Chase Headley.

Choo is not giving the yanks a discount especially with who hsi agent is. the yanks will ahve to give him at least 100 million

I'm happy to have Ellsbury, but does he warrant almost 100 million dollars more than Granderson?

Can you justify signing Ellsbury - a speed guy - to a 7 year deal at age 30 for 153 million while letting Cano walk?

Cano at 240 million + Granderson at 60 million = 300 million
Ellsbury at 153 million + Choo at 120 million = 273 million

Which team is better? Add to that Ellsbury's injury history vs Cano's health/consistency… Cano could at least DH by the end. If Ellsbury loses his speed, then you aren't getting much from him at DH that you couldn't get elsewhere…

I actually think Cano + Beltran was the way to go here.
