Sounds like its the oblique. Oblique injuries are becoming much more prevalent than in years past. They take a lot of time to recover from. I think its safe to say regular season is over for him.

its just ******** how many injuries this team had to go through this season. It'd be nothing short of a miracle if we made the playoffs.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you've won twice in the past week on wild pitches. That's not really refusing to lose so much as having games handed to you.
 
The Yankees won a game Phil Hughes started. I don't care if the other team balked in all six runs. Major, major accomplishment tonight and in the series against a very good team.
 
If the Yankees make the playoffs Alfonso Soriano is my AL MVP. Not that I get a vote.

I never liked MVP awards much anyway, but if I had a vote....

The Yankees AA Trenton Thunder won the Eastern League championship last night

Gary Sanchez and Mason Williams were promoted from high A ball Tampa in late August. They played for Trenton in the playoffs. Tyler Austin returned from an injury and he swung the bat well. Austin missed 7 weeks with an arm/wrist injury. Slade Heathcott has been out with an injury for a while.

And your point? Jim Johnson is a top closer in the league regardless of the amount of blown saves he has. He still leads the league in saves or is in the top 3. The yankees got the leadoff man on. You see it all the time, on a bunt the pitcher makes a bad throw to the second. Grandy bunts the two runners over. The yankees put the pressure on. And that was the half inning right after blowing a 3 run lead by the man who is supposed to replace Mo. To me thats good mental focus because a lot of teams would've deflated. Not to mention you had Soriano robbing a homerun in that same inning they blew the lead. That was a game saver.

This team would be the top team in the AL East, if not the league, had they had all their players for the duration of the playoffs.
 
Injuries are part of pro sports.

Its amazing the Yankees are still in the Wild Card chase. All of the teams are on the same level. There isn't much separation between them. Tampa Bay came back to the pack. One day Texas is about run and hide in the AL West but they're now in the wildcard mix.
 
injuries are part of the game but I have NEVER EVER seen so many and so many BIG ones on both sides of the ball (offense and defense) in one season, and somehow we r still right there with a relatively easy schedule to finish the season out
 
Ok I really need someone to help me out right now New York Mets fans. Who believes Terry Collins is going to be back? Can someone please answer this question. I hate the man, Collins has no clue how to manage in this league. He is horrendous at managing a bullpen, he has the worst work ethic of any manager in baseball, Cannot motivate his players or get them hustling. Most importantly this is the 3rd straight season the Mets are experiencing an epic collapse. 3RD Season.

This is preposterous !! Just a complete lunacy, the only reason he's tgere cause he's a loyal lieutenant and is good at developing relationships. If he's so good, that on earth has happened to Davis and Tejada, Overusage of Scott Rice and Tim Byrdak, D'Arnaud and Flores look lost, His lineup cards, The bullpens Abysmal Era, Teams inconsistency. I can keep going!

And no one mention to me injuries, Geez he can't even get the best out if our Callups. Never has,

FIRE Collins now, I will not support this team as long as that goofball runs the show and won't pay a cent to the Wilpons. I hope they continue to tank so he gets fired

I'm pretty sure I made my point. They've been on a nice run, but they've gotten some pretty substantial help. Also, good to know Jim Johnson carries the Proven Closer(TM) sticker for you.
 
The Yankees bullpen has blown several critical games the last few weeks. It reciprocates.

Nobody can deny that the Yankees have been winning a ton of games the last month they would have never came close to winning between April and July.
 
Claiborne has given up 8 runs in his last 1.2 innings
Robertson has given up 5 runs and 9 hits in his last 3.1 innings
Joba has given up a run in each of his last 3 outings
Kelley has given up three runs and four hits in his last 2.1 innings
Logan has given up 3 runs in his last 1.2 innings
Rivera has given up 3 runs and six hits in his last 6.1 innings with two blown saves.


They arent overworked. There's really no excuse for them to be throwing pus with no movement. Granted, Boston and Baltimore both rake, but these guys cant get anybody out.

Amazing how about three weeks ago you could argue they were the best bullpen in the AL.

they aren't overworked? seems like they are in every close game because our starters can't get past 6

Well based off career numbers it varies. Guys like Mo and Robertson are around their yearly average and guys like Logan and Joba are below.

Facing AL East teams means your starters are going to throw a lot of pitches. It's always been like that. The problem with the bullpen is that they have lost their command and their mistakes are getting tattooed.

Who knows. Personally I don't think Stewart are Romine are worth a **** at game calling, which just compounds other issues.

BOSTON -- Alfonso Soriano was a late scratch from the Yankees' lineup with a sprained right thumb, the team announced Saturday.

Soriano was batting cleanup in manager Joe Girardi's original batting order against Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester. The change was announced shortly before the scheduled first pitch.
