Ok I really need someone to help me out right now New York Mets fans. Who believes Terry Collins is going to be back? Can someone please answer this question. I hate the man, Collins has no clue how to manage in this league. He is horrendous at managing a bullpen, he has the worst work ethic of any manager in baseball, Cannot motivate his players or get them hustling. Most importantly this is the 3rd straight season the Mets are experiencing an epic collapse. 3RD Season.

This is preposterous !! Just a complete lunacy, the only reason he's tgere cause he's a loyal lieutenant and is good at developing relationships. If he's so good, that on earth has happened to Davis and Tejada, Overusage of Scott Rice and Tim Byrdak, D'Arnaud and Flores look lost, His lineup cards, The bullpens Abysmal Era, Teams inconsistency. I can keep going!

And no one mention to me injuries, Geez he can't even get the best out if our Callups. Never has,

FIRE Collins now, I will not support this team as long as that goofball runs the show and won't pay a cent to the Wilpons. I hope they continue to tank so he gets fired

Huge Mets fan here. I totally disagree. I think Collins has been given zero to work with three years in a row and teams actually DO hustle and DON't quit. Last night is case in point.
The Mets positon players in the minors are abysmal. Not getting much out of Wilmer Flores is a more an indictment of the Mets farm than the Manager. Wilmer Flores is a marginal prospect at best was having a nice year in the PCL where offensive statistics are inflated and would not sniff the majors on most teams.

I heard TC interviewed yesterday and when asked about D'Arnaud, he said "we have to fix a few things. He has a couple of issues with his swing that were not there in Spring Training". Direct shot at Backman there. No secret that the Mets are not happy with Wally and feel that many of their "development" issues relate to him.

Lagares is a player who looked clueless when he first got here at the plate. He has improved dramatically under TC to the point where he is a viable CF option in 2014 ..

I am also perplexed on what you are referring to when you make a statement like this "He has the worst work ethic of any manager in baseball". Anything to support that statement?

I do.

No, he has a horrible bullpen to manage.

he has the worst work ethic of any manager in baseball
Based on what? How do you know this?

Cannot motivate his players or get them hustling.

Simply untrue. A large reason why he'll be back.

Most importantly this is the 3rd straight season the Mets are experiencing an epic collapse. 3RD Season.

Epic collapse? No. 2007 and 2008 were epic collapses. This is the third straight year of the Mets not fielding a team that has legit MLB talent throughout the roster.

Of all the reasons to boycott the Mets (and there are plenty), I fail to see how Terry Collins is one of those reasons. What exactly were your expectations this season? How exactly has Terry Collins' performance failed to meet those expectations?

Last night, the Mets started one, possibly two players that have reasonable claims to be every day MLB players--Daniel Murphy, and maybe Juan Lagares. Lucas Duda could possibly become a serviceable first baseman or DH. Other than that, they fielded a roster of bench players and guys that don't even belong in an MLB game (Tejada, Brown, Lutz, Den Dekker, etc). They have no business winning games against anyone other than maybe Houston or Miami.

I'm not a huge Collins fan, but I really can't fault the guy for this season. ****, our best position player behind David Wright was a 36-year old OFer with a career .760 OPS. Outside of the starting pitching and a few arms in the pen, the team is complete garbage. Alderson gets one more winter to fix this team or he's done.

I'm not a huge Collins fan either. But I fail to see what manager is really going to get that much more our of the team.

almonte pretty much responsible for ending any chance at a wc spot, what a moron

As I look back and reflect on what I watched today, I can not help but shed a tear. I got to witness 19 amazing years from one of the best pitchers of all time on and off the field. Its truly amazing what I and other Yankee fans were privileged to see today. We saw an epic end to two amazing careers.. How special was it that Andy Pettitte started the game on Mariano Rivera tribute day. We might have lost the game, but its a game no Yankee fan will ever forget. It was the end of one of the greatest dynasties in sports history, known as the "core 4" or as I like to call them the fabulous five consisting of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Bernie Williams. These 5 individuals were instrumental in one of the greatest runs in sports history, part of 5 WS championships including 4 in 5 years. What made it even better was the appearance of the manager who groomed and led those players to the 5 WS championships, Joe Torre. From the bottom of the hearts of Yankee fans everywhere, thank you Mo, Jeter, Pettitte, Bernie, Jorge and Torre for allowing me to witness history. You guys are all true class acts and amazing individuals. Though we likely wont make the playoffs this season, I wouldnt change a thing about how this season ends with Mo and Pettitte pitching great and going out on the top of their games. Thank you all for the memories, its because of you five individuals that I became a Yankee fan in the first place. I was privileged to grow up watching u all play

Legitimately curious--why does Pettitte get a free pass on the steroids thing? I know he eventually came clean, but not after lying about it repeatedly. It's mentioned so rarely and I don't get why, considering most other admitted abusers are usually labeled as cheaters first and foremost.

I don't particularly care about PED use in sports. Just never understood why some guys are forgiven so easily.

it may be because Pettitte is s likeable guy compared to all the others. I wouldn't put him in the HOF because it wouldnt be right unless they let the others in as well. pettitte's reputation as a baseball player is hands down better than the other ped users, I think that plays a role

Not true - Big Papi got similar treatment for similar reasons.

I think they should let them all in. No way of telling for sure who was using and who was not, and honestly there's no way to quantify what impact it had on the game. Rather than basically whitewashing a whole era, I'm inclined to just treat it the same as the rest.

Steroids or not, Andy is not a HOFer.

without the HGH hanging over him it would be a lot closer. instrumental in 5 world series championships, winningest pitcher in post season history, he's never had a losing season, he's one of the best pitchers in big games, his win percentage is very good, and his ERA is respectable.. with the HGH admisson he won't get in, but it would be alot closer than you think if he didn't.

He holds the record for most postseason wins in yankee history and was a part of all 5 WS championships. He is a Hall of Famer.

I think you're confusing likely to get his number retired with Hall of Famer. Everything you're listing is a team accomplishment. He was a very durable pitcher who was very good for a very long time on teams that were almost always contending. But he was rarely great.

I think pitchers get a pass because the ped use is for recovery purposes. It doesn't allow you to pitch faster or throw a better breaking ball, it just allows you to maintain your natural level without a prolonged recovery period.

Plus Pettite brought up his PED use on his own during his retirement press conference. Thought that was pretty big of him.

Yeah, ummmm, no thanks.

No. That gets his number retired. Hopefully they wait 10 years, but i think Andy should be in monument field. Along with Jeter and Rivera, and that's IT from those dynasty years.

Bernie is a close, close call... but those World Series numbers...oooofah!

But the ALCS numbers are great...ok maybe 51 should be retired. :D

It comes down to likability, plain and simple. Also, people are quick to forgive those who admit their mistakes, and not so quick to forgive those who blatantly lie time and time again ie: Braun, Clemens, Bonds, etc.
