Cano is the Yankees MVP candidate but Soriano has been a Godsend.

Miggy should win it. His numbers are just mind-numbing withg or without the injuries.

Girardi's loyalty to Joba and Hughes always baffled me. How you bring in that disgusting, fat slob to face the top of Boston's lineup is beyond me.

That Trout guy is not bad. He should've won last season. I'd give it to Trout this year over Davis/Cabrera too. The gap between Trout and Miggy is closer this year than last season.

Trout would have to make the playoffs for the BBWAA to give him serious consideration. Even then, I doubt he'd win it. The best player in baseball though.

Is that still the case with the Writers? I don't recall any non-playoff MVP winners, but both Dickey and Felix Hernandez won Cy Young awards on crappy teams. They may be a little bit more open-minded than in the past.

The Cy Young gets treated differently than the MVP. You basically have to blow every other guy out of the water on every statistical level to win MVP on a non-contending team most years. Cabrera's having a monster season and playing on a contender so he has it locked up.

Andre Dawson won it in 1987 on a **** team. Mike Schmidt won it in 1986 on a **** team. A-Rod won it in Texas on a **** team.

Pujols in 2008 won it without making the playoffs. Howard won it in 2006 without the playoffs. Cal Ripken won it in 1991 on a 67-95 team.

The only time playoffs really come into play is if the winner is so clear cut or a playoff team has split votes (like the 1980s Mets and 2000s Yanks)

The Yankees are DONE period.. no more false hope I'm buying. they are D-O-N-E.

and Girardi has been absolutely awful lately with his decisions.

Pretty despicable managing by Girardi. His bullpen management has been horrific. Joba and Hughes have no business facing a team like the Red Sox at this stage of the season.

I'm not giving up on the season just yet. I just think Cashman is going to always regret not trading Joba and Hughes when their value was still high.

Blind loyalty. It's like squeezing a juiced orange every day for 4 years hoping to get one drop. They both have sucked for a long time.

Should have went batter by batter with Andy in the 7th, was only at 100 pitches, bottom of the order, he was pitching well.

Also having that 5 run lead would have given Andy plenty of leeway to make mistakes.

The 0-2 at bat to Carp leading to a 9 pitch walk sums up Phil Hughes to a tee.

Love how the Yankee FO and staff both keep ignoring that he has the most lifeless fastball in the game. Absolutely zero movement.

That hurts. Yankees are lucky they have games left with Tampa and Baltimore. Girardi cost his team two crucial games with poor bullpen decisions. Now just scoreboard watch and hope they get some help tonight.

You guys need to not be so quick to throw in the towel. The past two games have been awful, yes, but a month ago would you take 3 GB in the Wild Card?

They lost both games they had NO BUSINESS LOSING. You can't lose games like this when you need to win every game. girardi's bullpen management lately has been pathetic,

Still going to watch, no reason to just give up watching, just a horrendous 24 hours.

And they've won games they had no business winning. Things even out.

I'm not saying not to be pissed--just too early to waive the white flag. Plenty of baseball left to be played.
