That's just false. Mitch is fast to defend himself, not the room. How you note something else is baffling. Instead of saying I need need to be better or we need to be better, he goes on about how it's not just about core 4.

Who says something like that repeatedly after a loss?

This PR machine couple of poster run is hilarious.
At this point you literally have to be trolling lol.

Every NHL player says the same generic shit every press conference. I’ve heard two maybe 1 guy in the NHL say I have to be better. Nathan MacKinnon and Draisaitl and a few goalies. The rest all make the same exact comment that Marner.

Who cares about pressers, he defends himself and the team. You think they don't know in the room, you actually think he doesn't take responsibility? It's beyond amusing the way people live and breathe on comments to the media. Mitch isn't good at it, he's defensive and has a hard time relaxing and being unguarded. You can see what a great teammate he is, and I note he always speaks of the "room" during thes dodgy scrums. I think it the weakest of sauces to hate on a player because he doesn't like the media bubble in Toronto. It's meaningless to how I compute my appreciation or not of a player. It just isn't his gig, who cares. JT is a cliche machine, says nothing, it doesn't impact my impression of him as a person or player. As soon as people mention the dad, his scrums, it's just meaningless to me. He has to be better in the playoffs, he disappears in the key games, he panics and curls away from the action. Everything else is bullshit.
Yep, it’s all so weird

Well research on leadership indicates that how leaders speak matters in regards to motivating teammates. Marner makes 11 million and wears and A. So yes everyone should care about what he says in pressers.

I wish he managed generic shit like the rest of them.

yeah definitely no reason to label Racer88 a hater lol
Ya how dare me bring up a point that many many people, fans actual real hockey experts have brought up……..how dare I do it in the Marner love fest cheer thread.
Enjoy Bro’s

They’ve scored 16 goals in 4 games….and Matthews had 2 goals in the previous 7 games before Marner got hurt, so he was already slumping
He man that’s a fact that gets in the way of the Matthews is nothing without his lil buddy narrative

Ive heard many goalies say that. And many Swedes, since i follow them most. I belive Marner would grow from taking some responsability for a loss. And people would get of his back more.

When he first arrived he always seemed to be whining on the ice. (Crosby)

Win a Couple Cups and ...
Key point is on the ice, which was probably is emotions and competitive nature bubbling over. I dont mind this at all. I don't even mind it if a player whines about refs in post-game if they dare. Mcdavid is a bit of a whiner too.

But... constantly whining about social media in pressers?

It would be great if Marner "whined" about game events in pressers, instead he just whines about what people write about him online.

If you asked me to name importance to the team, it would be this exactly related to the winning percentage.
If those were the only players different in each game and the games were all against the same opponents with the same lineups and in the same situations (home/away, back-to-back, minor injuries, etc), then absolutely.

23 goals in 5 games since Marners been out. 6 ES goals today. Hard to argue that the offense is missing Marner. Defense and goalie could use some money for an upgrade though.

Something to ponder, remember some credit Marner for Matthews scoring totals:

Matthews without Marner:
All strengths: 15 games 15 goals 26 points (only 2 ppg, 5 ppp)
5vs5: 15 games 13 goals 21 points
Pace all strength: 82 games 82 goals 142 points
Pace even strength: 71 goals 115 points

Matthews with Marner on his line:
All strength: 52 games 42 goals 63 points
5vs5: 52 games 18 goals 28 points
Pace all strength: 82 games 66 goals 99 points
Pace even strength: 28 goals 44 points
