Marner loves being in the spotlight...he's always trying to be in it. He also, literally said he loves being treated like a god.
He just also has very thin skin.
I’m sure an element of that is true. Especially to sign extensions in Toronto, but I think at some point it will run its course. I do think many fans will get what they want. I think Marner will walk. There will be opportunity in UFA to get paid and maybe try a new situation.
4 nations probably hurts his case to make 13 million + IMO. But he can still get a decent contract in UFA. I wouldn’t rule out a Carolina or Edmonton as possible destinations. Especially if he’s willing to sign a short term deal. I think Edmonton will try and take a run at one of Marner/Rantanen
