At this point, might as well ask AI if Mitch likes to be spanked in the bedroom
You should be able to get great odds on Marner scoring a hatty in a Canada 7-1 win.We really got Marner talks having to pull out AI LOOOOL
I wanna say something funny, but I can’t even think of anything based on that, it’s quite literally unspeakable.
Not really on either side, Marner hasn’t really been good, I don’t really need Cooper saying he sucks or is great to change my opinion. I’ve used my own eyes for that. He also isn’t a “low iq” or “low skilled” player like some are saying either.
Still hoping he scores a hatty tmrw in a 7-1 blowout vs U.S.A

13-14M is a huge overpayment. He is clearly not in the MacKinnon or McDavid tier, but he wants to get paid like them LOL. This tournament has exposed that. 3 games, I don't care.
Living room is better. At this point, might as well ask AI if Mitch likes to be spanked in the bedroom
The level of compete and performance are so far apart that there is no question. At high level, Mitch Marner is not even a top 40 performer.
You can't pay that unless you aren't with it.
I bet any money 3/4 of the GMs scratched Marners name off the list
Certainly, barring a huge game by him today... he definitely is comfortably a level below Mcdavid and Mackinnon. 9.5 million Point was moved up to top 6, Marner out of top 6. Marner is now playing with 6.5 million Hagel and 6.5 million Cirelli. Other bottom 6 players. Jarvis makes 7.5 million, Konecny making 8.6 million. If you war game the Marner free agency with various GM’s across the league, I could see the 4 Nations driving down the price on Marner quite substantially. Hopefully the Leafs adjust accordingly.

Reinhart signed 8 years for 8.6 million last offseason. Reinhart still in Canada's top 6 and of course won the cup last yeas, scores alot of goals and has size.
American teams probably wouldn't want to pay Marner any more than 10 million imo. The market wasn't great for Gaudreau, coming off a 40 goals, 115 point season and the Avalanche recently walked away from Rantanen (whose got the edge over Marner). Despite the cap going substantially higher being speculated for quute some time.
Also, Marner would only get a 7 year contract, which would take him to the age of 34 or 35. However this might not matter to Marner, should he want 3 year contracts like Matthews.
I agree. His value peaked around the Matthews injury, but since then, the decline of his $ worth has been rapid and it probably hasn't been lower than it is today. Rantanen trade and Team Canada results have certainly hit him hard.Marner blew out the bottom of his ridiculous asking price. The only thing left is to see if MLSE are so incompetent that they pay him anywhere close to what he wants.
He and his agent are probably in a panic right now. He probably is wishing he didn't go.
Who knew Alex Kerfoot made Team Canada?I agree. His value peaked around the Matthews injury, but since then, the decline of his $ worth has been rapid and it probably hasn't been lower than it is today. Rantanen trade and Team Canada results have certainly hit him hard.
In terms of physicality, Kerfoot looks like Tom Wilson compared to Marner.Who knew Alex Kerfoot made Team Canada?
Strange that he played him so little last game then. You intentionally skipped a bit to further your agenda.Yes, Cooper said this :
When you are that size, you have to be unique at something,” Cooper said. “You have to be better than everyone else at something. If you really watch that game, the plays he made in tight, the plays he made in traffic… He is not the fastest kid on the ice. He doesn’t have the hardest shot on the ice. He doesn’t do a whole bunch of things that a lot of guys on both teams do better than him. But it is really hard to sit here and say, ‘Was there a better player?’
“He puts himself at that elite level with the way he thinks the game and processes the game at such a high level and at such a high rate of speed. That is why he is the player he is. I have watched him close up. I have coached against him in a playoff series. I have watched what he can do. There are not too many guys who can excel as a power play player, a penalty killer, a 5-on-5 guy, and at 3-on-3. Mitch can do it all.”
Ouch! I've said the same thing repeatedly on these boards about Marner but..but even I'm not at all surprised that Cooper said it publicly. Still there are a couple of posters that just try and manipulate what Cooper said to further their own agenda.
Perhaps strange, perhaps the flow of the game, perhaps he wasn't playing well. Personally, I think the lack of ice time is a strong indicator of performance. I don't find it strange myself.Strange that he played him so little last game then.
Not only did Cooper reduce Marners TOI but also demoted him to a checking line with players who made the team mostly due to their PK abilities (according to what Cooper said after rosters were announced).Strange that he played him so little last game then.

That's perfect then. We always seem to sign our big guys at their peak,. I'd be nice to flip the script for once.I agree. Nice I mean Hes got the iq to design plays out there for sure the leafs let em do that which is goodThat's perfect then. We always seem to sign our big guys at their peak,. I'd be nice to flip the script for once.
Btw, did you see Team USA basically running the play that Marner designed? Forward comes out to the blue line, takes the pass from the D and goes in on a mini break-in. Marner doesn't do it because he's scared to go down low, he does it to create space.
Reinhart knew he could've got more in UFA (I work with his sister-in-law). Took less to stay in FLA because of family and young children being settled. It was also last year before the big cap increase announcements. It also needs to be adjusted for the no-tax state.Certainly, barring a huge game by him today... he definitely is comfortably a level below Mcdavid and Mackinnon. 9.5 million Point was moved up to top 6, Marner out of top 6.
