And how would you know this lmao Your part of the team The team sucks spoiled entitled children with fans like you They’ll never change
.........because I have IG and saw them chilling all summer. Not even close to the image you're spewing. I stick to actual true statements. I don't spill shit out of my ass and think I'm right just because the team sucks. If I'm wrong I'll at least put in an effort to show you why I think that way. Can't say the same for many others. You're trying to dispute something that's common knowledge to most others.

Anyone with instagram and saw the posts care to back me up? Or you want to be fake instead.

I thought Joe Thornton was just an ass but go read his comments when he left this team is poison environment guess he was telling the truth

what comments where ?

Yeah I guess that's why he formed meaningful relationships with so many of them and still hang out with them to this day. So poison.

So Thornton didn't say the team atmosphere was toxic ? or the media was toxic ?

I assume this has already been discussed, but I want to know what everyone thinks Marner's trade value is. What do you think we could get for him?

Would Calgary trade Tkachuk? Would Edmonton trade Nurse? What about Provorov or Chychurn?

I'd take any of those, straight up for Marner. However, I highly doubt the other teams would.

So, what could we realistically get for Marner?

We won't be getting back a young #1 d for him. Tkachuk might be a possibility if he is difficult for Calgary to negotiate an extension with.

One of the most valuable sports franchises, and one with one of the longest failure streaks in existence.

How do you solve such a problem? All that money and all that failure. What to do?

--First, hire someone with zero experience at the NHL executive level: Shanahan
--He in turn hires someone with zero NHL GM experience: Dubas
--Of course, he then hires someone with zero NHL coaching experience: Keefe
--Who does Keefe bring in to fix the horrific power play ? You got it, someone with zero previous NHL experience: Carbery (No doubt after consultation with Dubas or maybe at the suggestion of Dubas. Does Carberry have a Soo connection?)

I noticed that Marner is apparently going to have another different power play role in the game tonight in Chicago.

Why might that be?

Well, you see, the last time Marner scored on the power play in the regular season was on February 7th, 2020 in the Covid bubble season.

Following that game, there were 18 further regular season games. Marner scored no power play goals in those games.

He also scored zero power play goals in the 56 regular season games last season.

And, of course, zero power play goals in the 7 games thus far this season. Add them up and it comes to 81 games.

Yes, with yet another shake-up on the power play, they're trying to spare poor Marner the shame of going a full 82 regular season games without a power play goal.

It's stubbornness taken to incomprehensible levels. Maybe take Marner off the first power play unit instead? :loony:

I think Sandin permanently blew his chances of being on PP1 last night with that stunning lack of foot speed.
Yeah I think so too .. too bad because da kid has exceptional SKILL .. but Keefer/Marlies all knew what Sandin's issue was a couple years back .. this is NO surprise although many hockey people even did not know because he does hide it quite well but there are times in a game when a turnover occurs and it becomes a GLARING issue and it occurred even at AHL level (he needs a huge lead on anyone in ant puck race to stand a chance to succeed) .. 2 or 3 strides is just not enough position lead for him against ANY NHL player or good AHL player

I would trade him for any of those guys as well. I'd trade him pretty much any young top 6 forward or top 2 Dman.

Hell, I'd trade him for Laine ffs. At least with Laine opposite Matthews on the PP we'd have two legit shooting threats, and the money saved could be used to shore up depth positions

I know you all are very knowledgeable about Marner's actual thinking and how he is a selfish kid who doesn't care, so I don't take Holland's opinion too serious, just thought it may be fun to read and make fun of someone like Holland who is so out of touch with hockey, the Leafs, and Marner.

They aren’t the only organization doing it

What other NHL franchises are allowing it?

and who’s to say the players asked for it? A lot of assumptions being made. It sounds like it came from up top. Not the players

It was all over the media that the players asked and I think Spreadsheet Dubious came right out and said so. Please try to keep up with the rest of the class.

I hate the focus on Marner as there are many flaws with the team right now. He's one of many problems. One player. However when you sign the contract he did in this market you know what is expected. If he was making 9 million now and the negotiations went smoothly things are a little different for him right now.

Arizona coyotes have a relaxed dress code and were the first team to implement the rule. How about you keep up with the times buddy.

Sorry he made his bed

All for Marner checking into players assistance program if he is struggling.

By demanding a 11 million dollar contract he was asking for the pressure, he even indicated this in the "thank you" letter leaf fans never asked for.

Maybe his management should've said, hey Mitch are we ready for this kind of pressure? Are you mature enough for this pressure? Will you be able to accept criticism when times get tough? Would you ok with no longer being a fan favorite? Would you ok being traded, because this contract although high, does make you more tradeable to low budget teams. If not, maybe we take a bridge deal at 7-7.5 million.

Think of all the Jobs on the line Peter Holland... Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe and working downwards.... yea let's just worry about Mitch Marners life and not everyone else's whose effected by him playing like trash while taking in 11 million.

Everything Holland said was very reasonable. And if Marner had signed a reasonable contract, fans would have reasonable expectations.

Unfortunately for Marner, he signed a remarkably UN reasonable contract. So fan expectations are correctly unreasonable.

He did it to himself. I feel not even the slightest amount of sympathy.

He didn't think of nor plan for any of that. I'm guessing in his own head he thought it would have all blown over eventually and he'd go right back to being a fan favorite. I don't think he anticipated teams like Columbus and Montreal having him figured it out so well, and he ended up putting up duds for series' and had a meme of him crying in the penalty box.
