When you criticize Marner, others come in to protect Marner by going after other players who have nothing to with Marner's individual performance. This is most common with Marner only. Some can't take him being criticized. Doesn't help that the excuses are almost pre planned.

It also has to do with expectations. Some have said he's better then Eichel and rather have Marner then Matthews. He's not better then any of those guys and that was confirmed a long time ago.
Marner just needs to play like the top winger he is, and not play like he is better then players superior to him.

Marner better than Eichel only? Some will tell you he's better than Patrick Kane...that comparison is so ridiculous it's unbelievable...Marner is not even half the player Patrick Kane is.

in fairness, the NHL is the only league that really makes players wear a suit. again just a bit of a traditional thing, but most athletes rarely wear suits to games, has no bearing on perfomance. it's just clothes

And this is exactly the reason you have a friggin dress code ... because clowns like these two will abuse the privilege of a " business casual " standard and wear "outfits" like these ... making it more about their INDIVIDUAL style ( as bad as it is ) .. and not about TEAM - where everyone wears a nice suit to the game ..... I used to run a Junior Hockey team ... and it was suits for home games and when we were on the road - on the bus - the TEAM was allowed to wear the TEAM track suit as it was more comfortable when traveling .... If these clown want to dress like this then let them do it on their own time not on TEAM time!!!

i mean he wore a graphic t shirt and chinos: not that big of deal. Very common outfit among people on mid 20’s. Do you see what Russell Westbrook wears daily lol? It would give you guys a stroke. I know hockey culture is different but they’re is absolutely zero correlation between clothes and performance, it’s just nitpicking at things you don’t like about them now. Which is your call! But clothes aint something to lose sleep over.

These two guys need another market to play in... 55 years without even being in the Stanley CUP FINALS, is too much, heck, a really great coach couldnt do it,a great coach in the AHL doesn't seem to be able to do it.

I don’t lose sleep over much. Lol. What they wear on their own time is 100% their choice but when they represent a proud organization that pays then crazy amounts of money I just think they could dress professionally.
Add in the fact that this is probably not the time to be demanding certain long standing rules to be thrown out. If they were winning and producing results it might mitigate the bumpy look. If they worked in a school or law firm or many other jobs they would be sent home for inappropriate apparel.
The fan base is so upset with them right now why would they throw the power they hold over Dubas and Shanny in the fans face. Just one more example or poor decisions by some very unlikable athletes
