Permission is different from opinion. Do you believe the club would move Marner without having a conversation with Matthews as it relates to his (Matthews') future as a Leaf?

That says it all right there. And its sad if this Matthews and Marner thing is more than just conjecture.

You think Tchakuk is crying in Florida from the trade?
Is RoR, Schenn, Mccabe sad because they had BFFs?
Kadri to Colarado?

You go and you play to leave a legacy for the LOGO
Not to have matching Mickey Mouse shirts and to hang with Justin Beiber.

Babs was so right, and how he was sabotaged is always a huge reminder to have Shanny and Dubas fired.

Keefe GONE. Dubas Should be gone. Shanny you have explaining to do.

Marner traded. Matthews on a deal only. Nylander is our new guy along with Reilly.

He´s the only player out of the big 4 that is moveable with a reasonable return.
JT is nigh untradeable, AM34 is going nowhere unless he wants to, Willy is very good value for money.
The odd man out is Mitch.

Why? Did Masai discuss trading DD with Kyle Lowery?
Did Masai asked the players before firing Casey and now Nurse?

Players like to win. Not saying let’s trade MM but if the return package for JT or MM are guys who can play with jam like Wilson, Toffoli or JT Miller and the team ends up winning the Cup. Even if AM is still unsign after the Cup Finals, I highly doubt he will leave even if he wanted to prior to the season bc this is a Cup winning team. Unlike Basketball where any teams can form a super team in one summer as long as players want to, it just can’t happen in Hockey.

This is one of those trades that could make us look foolish down the road, but of all the core players, Marner is the one that has proven beyond a doubt that his game cannot translate in the playoffs.

I would definitely field offers on him before his NTC kicks in.

Gone. Nothing against him specifically but he'd probably bring in a nice haul with 2 years left on his contract and I want full scale changes at this point. Everything's on the table IMO. I think Dubas did a good job this year bringing in some competitors and I don't blame him but he has to go because he's too close to the core to be able to make these changes. I want a housecleaning and I don't care if it sets the team back 5 years.

So, just to be clear, you’re asking Why? to a question asking if another person believes Dubas wouldn’t have a conversation with Matthews about Marner where his (Matthews’) future is on the line?

The asset management dynamic with the Leafs is entirely different than with the Raptors.

If you have to ask the question as to why Dubas would talk to Matthews about his future as a Leaf and in that discussion ask him about his comfort doing so without Marner, then I think it’s reasonable to say that perhaps you’re not aware of the apparent dynamic between Matthews and Marner and our club.

Move him too then.

I am so f***ing sick of this "super friends power" bullshit on this team. Not only do we have to overpay them to keep them, but now we gotta make sure their f***ing friends stay on the team too? What a f***ing joke. It's absolutely none of Matthews' business what they do with Marner and vice versa.

Context is key. I’m asking the question to highlight that possible (probable) reality.

I’m not asking the question from the perspective of Stockholm Syndrome.

I was calling for Keefe to be removed one second after Salming’s Night bomb.

And I’m early (before the playoff hype) as stating a want to emphasize Nylander as our new foundational focus.

We’re in agreement, the days of holding our management hostage have to be over.

I’m of a mind that we that we can build substantial support for our club by moving out certain assets and be a much deeper team through that and judicious free agent acquisitions.

That’s the problem, players should focus on playing unless said players actually won championships with the team like Kuch, Hedman, Stamkos, Sid, Ovie, Toews, Kane…

This guys 14 points is so annoying. How does someones stats look so pretty but finish the playoffs looking so ugly on ice. That Panthers series was horrible.

Wow 4-1 vote trade Marner. Might be a good idea to hire a better marketing department if the Leafs decide not to listen to the majority of Leafs fans.

I just came from a dance recital !!! I think Marner and Matthews should take up tap dancing and retire from hockey as multi-millionaires.

Virtually no body contact, and no need to worry about scoring goals at important times !!!
Marner had more hits in the playoffs than half the team

Marner is going no where I guarantee it.

This offseason depends on two things and only two things

Does matthews want to sign a max 8 year contract at minimal raise or does he want another 5 year at 15 million. If its the latter he has to go . For 11.6 million his playoff record sucks.

Does nylander want a 10 million deal and is he going to sit out again if he doesn’t get it.

Thise two deals are up first. Both have to be decided before anything done with marner.

If you trade marner first then you cant sign either of the other two and they walk than thats a disaster

Watching the Seattle/Dallas series depresses me, those boys are working hard in that series. But it does give me a few good ideas for where Marner would be a good fit to bolster offense possibly; Seattle in particular. I took crap earlier this year for wanting Yanni Gourde, but that guy helps you win; Mitch would help Shane Wright look good as well. They have plenty of pieces we could use, we have a big thing they need as well.

I suggested he be traded after Petriangelo was available. That is where I would have used his Cap Space.

Great vision, great stick. Zero intangibles.

In the postgame Marner made reference to their great season and how th3y persevered despite injuries. What the heck is he talking about...? This team was incredibly healthy. Not sure if losing Muzzin after 4 games is reason enough to talk about injuries being a major challenge to this club

I suggested trading him for Eichel, I suggested trading him for Tkatchuk... Each time I was told Marner was easily the better player.

I was really down on Mitch during the contract squabble and the Montreal series, but seriously, the guy is an awesome player and moving him is a mistake. What we need is the guy on his line that can ride a little bit of crash and bang shotgun.

So Marner should be able to just stand on the perimeter, take 50' shots, and stay away from dirty areas? McDavid plays in dirty areas and gets into rough stuff, Mackinnon plays in dirty areas and gets in rough stuff... Both of these guys can shoot, pass and have elite speed. Both are fiery competitors on the ice.

But you think Marner is soooooo incredibly skilled that he's worth 1 million less than these two despite not having all their other intangible? Marner has a poor shot, poor acceleration, no fiery personality, stays 15' from rough areas and every postseason he thinks he did great, had lots of chances but they didn't go in (4 straight postseason with the same response). Oh AND he uses the media to complain about people picking on him. The attention in Toronto has gone to his head. Its best for both him and for Toronto to part ways of each other.

9 million is the absolute most id pay for what he brings, he certainly wouldn't be an assistant captain either, even then I'm not sure if I'd want his personality in the room.

Then you don't pay him what he wants if he needs to rely on others to "drive" the play.
