Well then you'll be disrespecting Mitch who thinks he should make as much as AM.

Someone, please pull out the video of Marner on the bench reviewing a cheap shot he received on his tablet and responding not with a fight ( I know :DD), but with what can only be described as a mad puppy expression.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to pay 2 forwards a Matthews salary.
means we can't sign McDavid at his $15-$17m upcoming salary and then have any other forwards making more than $10m....NHL punishes having good hockey players

Easy situation, if you want to win. Trade them both and build a playoff team.
If Matthew signs. and Marner puts up better numbers for the next couple years, It's gonna be big trouble for the Leaf's when it's time for Marner to resign. They can avoid this if they lock Willie up and move marner.

Seven playoffs is not a large enough sample size. Maybe it will take a few more. God knows if we trade him, he will grow a pair of balls and surely win a Cup like Kadri, Bozak, Kessel, and Schenn.
In a month... We won't be able to move him if we wanted. No way he would ever considering waiving his nmc. We'll be at his mercy. I feel like 7 years is enough a sample size to be if he succeeds elsewhere in the playoffs. At this point we stretched it out longer than it should've been. I'd rather have cap space now and some great assets than riak witnessing an 8th pathetic postseason from him again.

other.

keep marner. trade tavares. fix our depth.

ps. i've got nothing against tavares. we just can't afford him.
For the 8,473,981st time, Tavares has a full NMC (no movement clause). He can't be traded unless he personally agrees to waive it, which he says he won't do.

I agree we can't afford him at $11M per season, and probably never could (or should have) but we're likely stuck with him for two more seasons.

Sometimes It feels like posters think we can wave NMC by simply b*tching about Tavares enough.

We should never want Tavares at $11M in the first place. Stamkos signed for 9.5 and no one can compare Tavares to 60-goal scorer.

At the same time, he can play around the net, and in the corners come playoffs time.

Unlike someone who can be traded and should.

He actually said that? Who asked him?

Marner makes more than Karlsson and Marchessault combined...think about that.

Marner’s got 47 points in 50 playoff games also is a +9 for his career. This narrative that he sucks in the playoffs is overblown and exaggerated by those who have a hard on for placing the blame at one players feet. He ain’t the problem necessarily. Trading him just to trade him is probably a mistake. If there’s a hockey deal that makes the team better or more built for playoff hockey then sure pull trig. Otherwise there’s no point in trading him just for trading sake.

The best solution is to wait it out for JT’s contract to expire. Then slowly reallocate that cap space for players who can help make a difference either goaltending or defence.

He actually said that? Who asked him?

Tavares was blatantly asked at locker clean out if he’d waive he said no.

Marner brought it up at locker clean out without being asked and said they all have term left on their contracts the core wants to stay together and win in Toronto. I don’t think you’ll find a guy willing to move.

Willy has said he wants to stay. Same with Rielly and Matthews. I truly believe they all want to be here. Which is nice but they gotta figure out the money part and take less so what they are saying actually means something

You clearly haven't been watching the playoffs. Put some work in... Rewatch the playoff games, specifically the Florida series and watch him continually lose the puck and float around the safe areas of the ice. His average shot distance was 45+ feet. His slot shot % was by far the worst on the leafs roster. He's taking a significant chunk of the teams cap and has looked just okay to absolutely terrible in all of the past 6 playoffs. He's got 4-5 back breaking giveaways in the past 4 playoffs that led to the opponent winning critical games.

put in the work and break down how he had been great. Rewatch game 3 and enjoy every shift of him giving the puck away. Or at least rewatch it like others have and explain why the reviews of this game are wrong. They are not.

Don't waste people time pointing to stats.... RNH was top 10 in points this past season, does that make him better than Marner and Matthews? He also had 11 points in 12 playoff games and Edmonton fans aren't saying he was good in the playoffs.

Doing a flyby when Rielly was pasted in the boards by Bennett at the end of game #4 is all you need to see. Reminded me of driving by a car wreck and not stopping to see if the driver needed help. Then watching him get manhandled by his buddy Tkachuk and looking to the refs was the cherry on top. Found it puzzling that Panthers never took runs at any of our petit 4 like they did to Kampf and Rielly. Maybe they thought it would wake up the bear. LMFAO.

I think it was more that they didnt need to worry about the core...Reilly and Kampf actually looked like they were ready for the playoffs.
