It is the only right one here.
Marner will likely sign with the Leafs with a raise. Your fantasy is really irrelevant. If he leaves the team he will also get a raise. What part of that don't you get...or do you agree with it and in some demented way feel that the world just doesn't work properly and that while he will get a raise, it just isn't right?
As it said before, I wouldn't be surprised at him getting a raise, but that's completely separate from whether or not he merits one.

Which is completely separate from whatever your convoluted post was supposed to mean.

Mitch Marner (10.9) + Matt Murray (4.6)
For
Clayton Keller (7.1)
Savings 8.4 cap.
Do it before July 1st,
That would be great, but I think we would have to add something of value, rather than Murray (unless their goaltending is a real mess).

What has Marner accompished to warrant a raise?

l'd be more than happy to see him shipped elsewhere.

I know what you mean, when I suggested MM for Eichel would be a good hockey trade for both teams it was not received well and booed .
fortunate enough for you then that every committed poster in this thread thinks your suggestion was great and smart and that Marner is bad and that Marner's dad is bad as well

we reached the "Mitch Marner is making too many simple plays in the playoffs" stage of the thread

How is that the conclusion?

It’s more “the only plays Marner made than ended up on a highlight real were simple ones” implying that all of his Magic Mitch stuff failed to make the highlight reel.. because it doesn’t work.

It would be crazy if he didn’t even have a couple 2nd assists off pucks to the net playing half the game and every PP.

hate guys who get pucks to the net and find open passes in the offensive zone, that stuff just doesn't work in the playoffs, or maybe it did for a series but it doesn't matter if it did anyway because what we really need is some fancy boys who shoot for the highlight reel

The best option for cap relief is to trade Marner.

The main problem with Marner is his contract. Maybe Marner wouldn't take so much heat if his contract negotiations were more civil. The guerilla negotiation tactics employed by his daddy and agent to extract every last cent they could from the team left fans disgusted.

A little more team friendly and no one thinks any different of their hometown hero.

So far they've all been proven a bunch of greedy win-nothing slugs. Marner not only included, but a leading example. If the Leafs wanted to show fans they were serious about changing the dynamic of this team, to become contenders, they would make a bold move to correct the imbalance in the roster and cap structure created by Studs'n'Duds.

The best way to do that is by trading Marner.

There was a point last season where I posted something like the Marner vs Eichel debate seems to be over, Marner is clearly the better player and I think almost everyone agreed. Amazing how quickly things can change.

I didn't. Your reading comprehension is a bit problematic. I gave context and you provide 1 game. Like I said...8 goals for 5x5 and 1 ga. Highest differential on the team that series. Also the highest xg%.
You keep trying to prove he is garbage until you suck up mid next season next year to sing his praises when the crowd shifts like you always do. You have zero credibility.
Keep saying one game as if it's nothing. It was the biggest game of the year and Marner looked like a child who simply didn't belong on the same ice with the grownups. That one game told me a ton about Marner, if you can't see it or you choose to ignore it, that's fine.

I've never tried to prove anyone is garbage, I've never said Marner is garbage and I'm not saying he's garbage now. When you resort to these ridiculous strawman arguments you're showing everyone you have no arguments left.

If Marner plays well next next season I won't mind saying so but when people like you start bragging about how awesome he is, I will remind you that it's only the regular season and playoffs are what really matters. That's me anyway, you're already building statues for him and labelling him an all-time great and if playoffs don't matter to you, that's fine.

Marner was so good for such a long period of time that I really believed his days of sucking in the playoffs were over, then came game 3 against Florida. I made a note to myself - don't be fooled again. Marner can win me over again, I'm always open to that but I don't care what he does in November or February, he's going to have to do it in the playoffs.

2 rocket trophies, hart trophy, 60 goal season, ted Lindsay trophy, Hart nominee; those are quite lofty achievements versus a selke nomination
That ain't shit remember? If marners accomplishments don't matter then matthews don't either. And 70% of his 60 goal season was bc of marner

TML Domain has spoken
Right now, Matthews (unconfirmed) might be looking at 13/14 year.
Do you want to pay Marner approximately the same? Does Marner have a case to be the same or 2nd highest player in the NHL?

If you say yes, then Nylander needs to go for some lower cap, multiple bodies. I don’t think it’s a good idea to bring a 3rd player back to double digits again while we are waiting to get rid of the other in double digits.

Then it looks like we watch the same thing all over again for the next few years. Can this team get by the first round next season, and can they progress past the 2nd. If yes, great. If not, then it will all be gone at some point.
