What a load of garbage lol.
That’s the problem with our team.
We have too many of that skinny guy and not the chunky. Solved.

Marner is the one to go. Send him to Winniped for Dubois extended 7 x 7 and another forward or dman depending on what we can snag in ufa market
Dubois doesn't strike as a glue kind of guy.

Brady is 0 for 0 in the playoffs. Unless you believe someone else needs to get him there and he has a genetic predisposition to play like his brother in the playoffs which means 2 extra points with an extra game.
Brady is on a team that is in the middle of a full rebuild. Unless they mess it up, they are trending in the right direction. Last I heard Matthew is preparing to face Fredzilla while Mitch is teeing off and preparing to hit the cottage. You might want to dial it back when defending Mitch by criticizing the Tkachuks. Sorry, your boy is not doing you any favours in the playoffs. You should be able to ramp back up in October though.

Ideally you want a Tkachuk on a Team with Marner, not in place of.

I think the only player thay needs to go is Tavares with his albatros contract and we can work things out. These guys are young, more productive and still developing. Tavares looks like a plug for 11mil he can't even throw a solid hit.
Under rated comment. And I like JT. But not at 11. However I like everything else maybe see if you can get Ovi. For a year or 2.

We've seen him with a coach that kicked his ass, and we've seen him with a coach that coddled him like the spoiled child he is.

What else is there to see?
He worked on that shot, and Jimmy came up with a tactical plan. I bet he would also like any trade Marner brings back the best return you could get. What's your plan? I'll take the guy who had a gun in his face. I am wrong you take Jimmy's plan or your plan and win that trade. So what's the Marner trade? Your original idea to trade him. I want Vega to go broke on how right you were too.

Maybe not but Marner isn't either. At least Dubois is a POS to play against and is a center. He could likely be had for something like 6.5 x 8. Younger than Marner too
But wouldn't part of the consideration be to bring in a guy unlike the other?

Brady Tkachuk for Mitch Marner would be a great move for us.

That's only if Brady ever wants out of Ottawa. Mitch is the better overall player though, but Brady is one of the few guys I'd be open to trading him straight up for.
Brady also making almost 3m less for the next two years and is signed long term. No brainer.

Rielly was our best player in the playoffs, now imagine a double attack (or triple with Lily).
Get bigger bodies up front on the forecheck and let the players from the back dictate the pace. Harder to slow that down.

Yup, exactly. Honestly the biggest problem this playoffs was movement out the back end besides Rielly and sometimes Lilly. Couldn't ever get sustained zone entries. Hughes+Rielly alleviates that completely.

Good argument Paul, no sweat hopefully Mitchypoo gets his 15 million, I know how hard it can be living on a 10 million dollar budget.

Lol. OK dude.

Disappear? He is tied for 6th in playoff points in the league.
How many points did he have vs Florida again?

Sorry I'm making his awesome performance in the 7-2 win look smaller.

Do you think 5 goals in 35 playoff games gets you 12 million+?

So after thinking this over more, not sure how you can move EITHER Matthews or Marner. Nylander will be the one to go even though I think he shouldn't be. Reasoning

- Like it or not, Marner is massively important to the team in the regular season and you need that to be a playoff team. Whatever line he is on is our top line, he is our best Pker and plays all situations. I don't see how we could replace that realistically in any trade we do. Would need a collection of lesser players instead of a hockey trade and that spells disaster more times than not.

- Matthews can't go because who is the teams #1C? Tavares is talked about as a winger going forward and even if he somehow stays at C, he has what 2 years left and then what? No #1C? We know how hard it is to find one.

With Nylander, if he goes we still have Marner as a top wing. If Marner goes, Nylander is a top wing but he isn't as good as Marner in all aspects of the game. Not to mention Marner leaving we don't see Matthews score 60 goals ever again and he will likely be paid like a player who can do it.

So yeah... I think the move that should be made won't for these reasons. Marner is who should go but I think he is simply too good unless an offer knocks the Leafs away

If you want the single player best return most equivalent to Marner, then it’s probably Hughes.
Changes the core from just forward heavy.
Signed for 5 more years at 7.8. He will still have 3 years on his deal when 11 million JT is up.

I really doubt Vancouver does it but I would elated. You could stack the first line with Knies and Nylander with Matthews (i.e a guy who can actually enter the zone and a guy who can skate and grind but also has hands and can cycle the puck with Matthews and Nylander) and then having 2-3 other lines that are grindy/speedy with guys like RoR, Acciari, Lafferty etc while we get great movement from the back end.

You never know what Vancouver would do until you ask. They are kind of in termoil. Traded Horvat, new coaching, lack of direction. Add Marner to Pettersson, who knows. There is always a right time to strike.

Something tells me Quinn will want to join his brothers in NJ at some point. Can't see the Nucks moving him, especially to Toronto. I'd look at Winny who are also looking to turnover their core. Philly and Nashville might also be good trading partners.

The fact you need to bring Matthew "former playoff dud until one good round" Tkachuk into this to defend Brady says it all...

Ottawa wasted some good draft capital and signed an old man, I guess for fun? No smart rebuilding team would do that.

Marner joined literally after the team finished last in the league. Have never missed the playoffs. Ottawa has been rebuilding for how long?

People chirp Marner for playing fortnite while complaining on HFBoards during work hours. Can't make this up

Go touch grass people.

So Marner is measured as a goal scorer now. You really are a nubie at this aren't you?
