I have no idea where he would go and who would have the assets….. in no particular order

1.) washington. Playmaker for ov but they have nothing to give really

2.) winnipeg… you could do marner and Sammy’s rights for ehlers/pionk/helly?

3.) NYI for pelech plus???? I dont see a forward

4.) Carolina for necas and pesce (1 year left)

5.) NJ for meier (if he signs for like 8 mill) and a D? Or Merced?

6.) Calgary for weegar and lindholm? Would they want him with hiby?

7.) Columbus has no defense and had gaudreau.

I don’t see an obvious fit
Columbus has absurd defense prospects and some quality young guys

Boqvist, Jake Bean, Peeke, are the secondary guys but still good players

Weresnki is an elite top 15D

Jiricek is a top 10 prospect in the league, Mateychuk, Coulmans, Svozil etc

A package of

Bean + Mateychuk + 1st would be great get

I dont think they want to take a step back and do a prospects deal. From what dubas said it would be an impact player

I don’t see what Columbus has on the roster. Laine is pretty bad.

I kind of think Carolina would make the most sense. They could give necas (lesser player with a much lesser hit)

Calgary too but they don’t have the salary space.

Jersey may like marner above meier. Perhaps a Meier and bemec swap?

You could try marner for konecny and provorov….

I just don’t see a good fit

Konecny is a playoff no show Id stay away personally

Same for the ehlers deal

I think we have to acqhire toung prospects and breaking in NHLers not proven stars

Use the cap savings to fill the roster, take a step back this year and then get some UFAs in 2024 along with the 2-3 high quality prospect/NHL young players who will be key contributors along with knies, robertson

Sure but that’s clearly not what they want. Dubas has been offered a deal and wants players now

I agree in principle with you but it’s not realistic

I'd hire Ben Johnson, Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire to help "train" Marner this summer.

Watching him trade in his Mickey Mouse shirt and strut into camp with a muscle shirt would make for great memes.

Regarding Marner, he needs play with the players like Chris Knuiz, Chris Neil, Milan Lucic, Tom Wilson, Tie Domi, why? Because he needs play under these guys ' Wings, and he is immature and crying baby, softy like Chinese Tofo.

If he wants to resign for 7-8m, sure keep him but he’ll likely want a raise on his 11 and that will cripple the team.

These guys will have to take a discount if they care about winning so they can get winners on the roster. If not, same result for 7 more years.

I agree with you but marner isn’t settling for a pay cut unless noone offers him any more then what his AAV is now. On a side note, marner would be a good fit for Chicago. No playoff expectations, can be an elite play, asker for bedard..

Who was it that said our players were more interested in video games than winning? It was a few years back.

Dubois is a name I’d definitely be interested in. Seems like a guy who could fit really nicely on the left side of Matthews and provide that attitude and physical play.

I wouldn’t move Marner for him though, something around Nylander for Dubois makes sense.

7 points in 12 playoff games for the Jets and a minus 7. He’s over rated, at least in terms of dealing a Marner caliber player.

100% I wouldn’t trade Marner unless there were multiple significant other pieces coming our way. However Dubois + for Nylander is something I would be pretty open to.

He’s one of the hardest working players on the team, his off season regiment is full on. You can’t blame the guy for his body type, it isn’t lack of commitment or work ethic, and people who can’t admit that are fools.
Bodybuilder types actually think they are athletic and like to judge fitness through aesthetics. I can't think of anything worse you can do as an athlete than putting on useless muscle mass.

Naturally you can put on 2lbs of muscle per month your first year of training, 1lb the second year, .5lbs the third year and so on.

Mitch has been a professional for nearly a decade and he still looks like a teen. He's never going to be a 220+lb bruiser, but ectomorphs can definitely gain a ton of muscle if they put in the work. He's still getting pushed off the puck like a young scrawny 18/19 year old.

McDavid had the same issues when he came into the league, look at him now and he hasn't lost any speed at all.

How is he supposed to not get pushed off the puck come playoff time? Are you satisfied with his play? Do you think he has maxed out all the size he can put on his frame?

It’s pretty obvious he can’t put on mass, I recall four years ago hearing about his epic off season work outs, the guy just isn’t built like that. It’s also why Matthews gets more scorn from me, the guy is a physical specimen, that size, with that agiliity, he has it all and yet disappoints every time. Mitch simply doesn’t have the frame to play a hard game.

Anybody can get bigger, it's just a matter of eating more.

Metabolism is real though, thye had a study where they fed a group of people 3500 calories for 8 weeks.

Some of them came back 20+lbs heavier and much fatter, some of them came back slightly heavier and a few of them hardly gained at all.

It's just a matter of feeding yourself more and more which is a disgusting thing, but if you want to win, you'll do it.
