Scottsdale
Ryan Pulock + Brock Nelson + 18th overall pick

Toronto solidifies the D, gets a 30 goal scorer to help replace some of Marner's production and some extra value

I can't see the Isles having interest in this; I could see Pulock and Nelson (assuming Pulock would even waive his NTC)

To Chi Marner
To TML Murphy(50%retained) TML 2025 1st round pick who says no?
Marner most likely. I think it would take a little more from Chicago if Marner was willing to waive and extend.

Without the pick it's probably not worth it for the Leafs.

Only way Marner agrees to a trade is if a 7-8 x +$11.5 mil deal is in place. If not, he'll be better off sticking with the Leafs.

Here's the challenge for Marner... which is the same challenge Treliving screwed up with Matthews & Nylander...

Marner needs to decide whether he wants to make $11.5m; or have a shot at winning. You realistically cannot have both.

Even though he's soft, I still can recognize that he's a dynamic player upfront and that's the type the Islanders do need to add.

He also just turned 27 (literally today), so he should still have a number of seasons left still in his prime, so I accounted for that value in my proposal.

Its New York. People tend to like NY over Canadian markets. TO is a second tier city compared to NY. His GF/wife might enjoy the bright lights.
NYI are a perennially poorly run organization. I think players quite often have teams like NYI on their no-go list.

NYR however.... that's a go-to organization. Ownership and money matters.

True, but he's leaving one poorly run organization for another. It would all be about location rather than organization, especially if its a one year committment.

Using that logic, any US destination is better than TO. Which i agree with but that's out of pure bias. lol

Since people struggle with keeping track of how 10 years works I’ll spell it out.

1.) 14-15
2.) 15-16
3.) 16-17
4.) 17-18
5.) 18-19
6.) 19-20
7.) 20-21
8.) 21-22
9.) 22-23
10.) 23-24

Doughty won 7 total playoff games in the last 10 years (decade).

You're confusing years with seasons.

June 2014 to June 2015 = 1 year
June 2015 to June 2016 = 2 years
June 2016 to June 2017 = 3 years
June 2017 to June 2018 = 4 years
June 2018 to June 2019 = 5 years
June 2019 to June 2020 = 6 years
June 2020 to June 2021 = 7 years
June 2012 to June 2022 = 8 years
June 2022 to June 2023 = 9 years
June 2023 to June 2024 (we're in May) = 10 years

Recently watched a video where they screwed up a project by just ten years that wont be done for another 1000+ years based on the issue you guys are arguing about. So whoever is wrong, you are in good company.

The teams that will be interested in trading for Marner are the teams looking to make the playoffs but nowhere near a contender. Marner will help them in that area. Buffalo, Detroit, Philly come to mind.

Living standard for a multimillionaire is easily better in NY than most american cities and all canadian cities.
True, but if the player wants an organization that is committed to building a cup contender, then some US cities are not as attractive.

That said, Mitch Marner may not have "competitive organization" as the top of his priorities.

If the Pens resign Crosby.

How about Karlsson for Marner. Pens then flip Marner at the deadline next year if they're out of playoff picture.

Now that is a hockey trade! That one makes sense i think! :)

I actually think this makes sense for both teams.

Yep it makes total sense. Karlsson would make the leafs D that much more mobile And they're transition game would be vastly improved.

The thing is, you never know what the actual person behind the NTC actually thinks. Maybe he likes the players in one organization on a personal level? Maybe he likes the geographic location? Maybe he likes the arena and crowd?

Johnny Hockey signed in Columbus of all places a few summers ago, how many people actually would have predicted that? Probably zero. But the actual person just liked the city and the organization, so that's where he wound up.
