Maybe they won't. The way I see it, they do need more firepower up front and they have 3 D-men that should be first pairing guys, arguably all three could be #1 on some team. I have a hard time believing they really intend to hold on all 3 of Dahlin, Power and Byram.LOL, what are you smoking? Power/Byram for a rental and proven loser? They aren't paying Marner 11+ million.
Someone is going to pay Marner 11+ on the open market, that's a guarantee. A lot of teams are also going to look at him with "I can fix him" attitude. While Marner is the worst offender, let's not pretend that Matthews and Nylander have been these playoff monsters when you compare them to other superstars around the league.
