.... the stats you listed are 100% all hits taken while he was getting the puck? It's called taking a hit to get the puck.

Da truth hurts .. but again please remember he does not have da extra playoff speed or strength in his body .. he is giving it his all .. all blame should go to a rook GM who did not understand fully what he was getting for AAV .. or maybe GM does not care about playoffs either who knows .. Mitch produces in season when he has more time and space and he will next regular season too
I may have missed it, but can I ask for your assessment of his playoff? I know you're a fan of his, so I'm just curious on what you think happened and why? I know I'm pretty down on his play, especially when I look at his last 2 playoffs combined. So you are saying that the sole reason the Leafs lost was because of 1 player with the second highest shots 5x5 on the team, the second highest xga and one of the top players in hits taken.
Seems like a pretty lazy assessment, thanks.
Marner? All categories haha if he wasn't putting the puck over the glass, I didn't even know he was out thereWhat do you mean he disappeared on him exactly?
Passes, shots on net, hits, hits taken, shot quality?
The letter to fans was vain... like he thought he was LeBron James? Has any other NHL player done anything like this? He only had one ppg season under his belt and he's penning a letter to the fans...listing off leaf greats...making his contract end in .893 for gilmour....There is a difference between being a leader and being liked by your friends.
When a team gets wiped out five years in a row in the first round, you make mega bucks and had a woeful series and someone asks if you change anything to prepare for the playoffs and answer "nope" you clearly aren't a leader, or certainly not the one we need
All that is required is that you watch the games..... the stats you listed are 100% all hits taken while he was getting the puck?
Who cares about that when he goes missing when it matters the most like the playoffs.Marner was 4th in points this year… what was he suppose to sign for? 6 mil a year?
also since joining the Leafs, Marner has the highest PPG in the playoffs.
I know that doesn’t fit ppls narratives and I was pissed at him too but relax
fun fact: Marner had more points than Patty Kane who ppl wanted to vote for the Hart!

No, definitely not. But that of course doesn't fit his narrative that he's trying to drive home. Marner was 100% not a dog on a bone, battling, and taking hits to get the puck. He was getting hit because his decision making slowed down due to his nerves. He handled the puck like a grenade out there. Hence the eye popping 5 over the glass penalties in his young playoff career. So giving a small shifty guy credit for getting hit due to brain farts...is an odd one. High end, undersized players, typically don't take punishment. They spin out, they're elusive, they're shifty. Guys like Patrick Kane. Or guys like....regular season Mitch Marner. Notsince67 also wants to give credit for the low percentage muffin shots Marner threw at the goal. None of which put any fan on the edge of their seat (outside of the 2 on 1 that Price robbed Marner on). Why did he throw low percentage shots on goal? See the grenade statement. When Marner is going, he's making plays you don't see, he's thinking one step ahead....he didn't do that in the playoffs. Hence getting hit more than usual, 2 over the glass penalties, and a plethora of Marner Muffins (he should patent that, see if Timmies will get that going for him) on the net. Marner is an exceptional talent. I wanted us to draft him, and I'm still happy we have him. But trying to spin anything into this being a redeemable series for him is absolutely laughable..... the stats you listed are 100% all hits taken while he was getting the puck?
Awesome. Now he just needs to trade some of those points for a heart and a set of balls.Marner was 4th in points this year… what was he suppose to sign for? 6 mil a year?

His game 7 was awful. I saw the reason for the teams loss as largely systematic. Whether they have the skill to play an appropriate system is arguable but the team wholehearted bought into a newer system this year and it doesnt work in the playoffs if that is all they are showing. Matthews got a lot of looks yet his shooting percentage was in the toilet. That shouldn't happen to a Rocket winner. There was no attempt to make price uncomfortable and Hyman was like a fourth goalie blocking shots from M&M.I may have missed it, but can I ask for your assessment of his playoff? Was it just bad luck and lack of finish from his linemates for his lack of production? Evidence of a bigger playoff problem? Maybe none of the above.
I do agree he was fine defensively (I have noticed you post that previously). Even with that turnover in Game 7 he had support and it was a brutal goal to allow.
Compare his hits for against your so called physical NylanderYea thought so... if you can't back your stats then why use them in an argument.
Nylander showed up for the playoffs, and scored 5 goals.Compare his hits for against your so called physical Nylander
We really should've put Nylander on Matthews' line. That should say a lot about our 11M winger.
Nylander played well in a limited role. Really good on the powerplay but 5x5, his line was challenged defensively. They allowed more goals in a sheltered line. Not saying he didnt do well but he would have been buried on the first like the rest of them.Nylander showed up for the playoffs, and scored 5 goals.
Hes also 4 million cheaper.
He typically gets ripped on for his physical play and seemingly lackadaisical attitude sometimes.
Nylander redeemed himself this series.
Marners issues were exacerbated.

Fact is Nylander was the hot hand all series, and shouldn't have been in a limited role to begin with.Nylander played well in a limited role. He is getting booed. For Sure, apologists will be out in full force too, but.... the key is to wait until the cheers have died down to start booing.Whats the over/under marner gets the larry murphy treatment on opening night?
I used to be a huge Marner fan but his post game and in game series performance really ticked me off

It’ll be forgotten by then and fans will just be happy to be in the building.Whats the over/under marner gets the larry murphy treatment on opening night?
