Not a question of good. It's a question of how injured he is.
Last report I read, 6 months after his injury, he was having trouble raising his arms above his head and he was looking at experimental surgery.
He kicked the puck back into the crease on Goal1.
He fired the puck into the stands causing Goal2.
But after he extorted us on that contract,,, he assured us (on some rooftop) that he was very thrilled to be playing for "an Original 6 Team"!!!!
Off to Chicago you go, son.

Worse than that. It's a slipped disc in his neck.
Eichel wants experimental surgery. The Sabres want him to avoid surgery. It's a big fight in Buffalo.
If I'm Eichel, I lay on the couch for a year and hire a pretty massage therapist to work on my neck daily. I would NEVER allow surgery on my neck - let alone experimental surgery.
A thread in the Buffalo forum has all the details. Sabres fans don't know what to think.

I’d rather that than playoff Marner. At least if it doesn’t work out we can LTIR him and use the cap space. Playoff Marner is 10.8 for a PK specialist

I think Eichel's scared. His neck is NOT getting better and, when you're young, you don't worry about the long term consequences.
Again, I would NEVER let anyone operate on my neck but I'm old and I've been around. Eichel's 24 and has the "confidence of youth" - and that's not a good thing.

Marner held this team hostage for a massive contract before he had earned anything and has done nothing since to prove that he did deserve it

I woke up this morning still so furious about that 5-3 penalty. The reason Keefe challenged the goalie interference was because their power play was terrible he didn’t think Marner would take o e of the dumbest penalties of all time to make it a 5-3 for 1:45. There was no reason to shoot the puck over the glass there he had all day.

Whats the point of having this fantastic regular season player if he can't rally with the team and perform to standards when "it really matters" he has a jekyl and hyde demeanor that doesn't settle well with me.

I guess that statement begs the question.....why the hell weren’t they ready to start the game. That was a very important game and we have been hearing the same BS from Marner year after year

Im confident Hyman even had 3 or 4 breakaways this playoff round so far and couldnt capitalize. Shot the puck at the habs crest in the middle of Carey prices' chest.....matthews has the most hits on the team if I'm not going crazy so ill give him that.. lol
Because the plays all end on marners stick. Tons of passes to the so called elite playmaker that he couldn't convert. I don't recall any this series he makes to his teamates that result in great scoring chances because of elite playmaking. It's so bad even my wife who doesn't watch hockey was asking why that guy isn't covered on the pp.

Eichel is freaking amazing! He's just been on a crappy team so we don't see his talent as much as we should. Massive IQ, great offensive skills, fast, and great work ethic. Also, not afraid of the physical side of the game. I think I would take the risk with his neck to have him on the team.
Another thing that's good about Eichel is that he wants to win in such a massive way. He is almost in tears when he loses. He looks like a serious guy too. We need more all-business type of players on the team.
Also, Marner would be the best trade scenario for Buffalo. They are not going to get a 1c in return. Just not going to happen. Marner can drive a line like a 1c though and may shine in Buffalo without the pressure and bad playoff memories of Toronto. Buffalo can draft more C's in the next few years, as they will still suck.
Marner is going to have to learn a life lesson or two. The level of entitlement he showed during contract negotiations warrants a move to Buffalo and taking part in some rebuilding seasons. He is going to have a good career, but needs some karmic punishment for a while. LOL
Maybe him wearing the Bills jacket is foreshadowing? I'm sure he would love living close to the stadium.

The over the glass shot seems to signal that he is literally squeezing the stick. Hopefully he snaps out of it. Maybe the hitting and the Tavares injury have got to him. He and Matthews can’t play fancy dangles with playoff reffing. It will never work. No one can make that work. They have to stop trying. This lines only hope now is that Matthews goes back to initiating contact like he did earlier in the series and toward the end of the game last night.
But seriously, we should not be talking about trading him. And if we are, not for Eichel. Especially when Seth Jones has said he won’t re sign in Columbus.
