I have been following the Eichel neck story more than most and it's... complicated. If I'm the Leafs, I don't make that trade.

Maybe it's an opportunity to get Eichel...he's young, I think he'll recover from his neck injury.

He can still be worth it for us but this whole playoff disappearance act he (among other LEAFS) pulls has to be fixed. His whole pass-first mentality DEF needs to be tweaked. He is TOO predictable.

He's a great player. A real talent. It's just a shame the way the game is officiated truly in playoffs that some players get turned off. It's a shame it has to be players that went TOP5 or TOP10.

Marner’s talent level is high but also very uneven. There are many aspects of his toolset that are woefully under developed and those flaws make it easier to isolate and disrupt him. He’s great with the puck but his shot arsenal is well below average so you don’t have to respect him in certain defensive situations. He has great edge work but his explosiveness and separation speed is not excellent so you can box him out or isolate him. He’s a fantastic puck handler but his puck control is surprisingly poor on routine plays. He’s creative but chaotic and his puck distribution can range from brilliant to incompetent on routine plays or the PP. He’s a scrappy under dog at times with great hustle but also plays noticeably scared.

Sometimes in playoffs star players dont show up for a round and others step up, then they advance, then next round star players produce.

Maybe Leafs can pull that off. So far Spezza, defense, and others have produced.

I hope the Leafs pull through in game 7...but you would want Matthews and Marner to be difference makers in the scoresheet in game 7, no? They've already been missing in action the last few games. You don't get big bucks and hope it's your other lines that carry you.

That's very accurate. It screams to me that hes still a bit raw, needs some time and we shouldnt give up on him.

Some power skating, then shooting lessons with Auston daily, or maybe even Spezza forget Auston ;)

If game 7 isn’t the best f***ing game of his career, trade him. I’m sick of seeing this dude think he’s still in junior.

Yes ofc I'd like them to be diff makers in #7.

With how it's gone, you'd think their chances are good to break out, but then you break it down further, and further and then it looks more bleak.

I'm trying to forget about the past game 7 moments, God knows Sportsnet will shove it down our throats next two days.

This is a new moment. A new opportunity. Let's see what they write. I believe it'll be different.

Are you really expecting anything different then usual?

Last year after Columbus knocked us out I said to a friend this team will never win in the playoffs because we’re playing with a smaller cap than everyone else. 10.6 million smaller because Marner was a no show. And this year he proved me right

He also had the $10.893 million cap hit last year too, and was a no show.

There only one word to describe him and his play in this series, and I can't say it here. Let's just say it rhymes with wussy.

It's funny but Marner almost made me forget the NHL lock-outs, the greed, and how the game is all about money. Thought he was this adorable kid with talent, lots of obvious weaknesses, lots of strengths. Didn't know if he'd be big enough to play in the game. Then this underdog gets handed this stupid contract. And Dubas just dropped me back to reality, it's about the money. Think a lot of heros died when sports teams started publishing salaries.
