Everytime he has the puck he stops up just inside the blueline. Defense reads him like a book and takes away his passing lanes because they know he won't drive the net or shoot form outside.

Maybe one day he figures it out, but I don't think it'll be in a Leafs jersey.

I don’t think we will get fair value for Marner. His play in the playoffs and his stupid contract will severely knock his value down. We should have traded for Eichel long time ago. It’s too late now. If anything the leafs will probably give him away. Marner always has excuses on why they lost but is never is able to back up his words and show up in the playoffs.

As much as I'm leaning towards the "maybe Marner needs a change of scenery", people shouldn't expect to be blown away by return potential trade brings. I'll venture a guess any trade would involve Leafs carrying portion of his contract. You guys remember we're still paying for such trade involving mr. Kessel, right?

Marner plus for Eichel will work...no need for money retention by the Leafs...after Marner's bonus is paid out this July, he'll be owed only $25 million for 4 years.

OK... and where does Tavares play? We're gonna have a 11m/per 3rd line C??!?

He is 6+ years past his draft year now and still plays a small stick check only kind of game. While William Nylander has shown this playoff he is capable of performing and using his body to win battles (also doesn't do this consistently) it truly makes me think Mitch is not mentally or physically ready for playoff hockey.

Plays made in playoff hockey are usually simple and clean, and not highlight reel goal everytime. He just doesn't get it...

I would love the first 2 lines to look like this:

xxx-Matthews-Nylander
Tavares-Eichel-xxx

Tavares could move to the wing...he will have to regardless when he gets older...or stick Eichel on his wing for the time being...Eichel is a centre...he could play wing or centre.

honestly I kind of want us to trade Marner now regardless of Mondays outcome unless we make a run to the cup final

I'm just tired of seeing him overthink things here and try to be a hero

We’ve spent many years following this core try to mature but it doesn’t look any different in these situations. The kind of progress they would have to show to would have to be massive.

You could also run

Gally - AM - Nylander
Robertson - Eichel - Hyman
Kerfoot/Foligno - JT - Mik

Would be interesting if the Leafs could trade Marner to Columbus for a sign/trade of Seth Jones.
Jones and Laine was a thought I had. Id want more than Jones personally and Laine could be very good here with our other weapons and how he seems to play under pressure

Can Marner just for the love of God make quicker decisions with the puck already!

It's playoffs, every guy is covered hard.. either take it to the NET and SHOOT! or make a decision and pass already.. holding on to the puck and hoping isn't working. Shoot the puck and dig!! It's playoffs man. There's a reason you're not scoring.

Maybe that would work, lineup wise but dunno about our cap situation. I think we need to have one less player making 8 figures or we'll forever be in cap hell.

What's most frusturating about watching this duo/ trio with Hyman, is that they just do not seem to have another gear for the playoffs. Phillip Danault is not, and cannot be an excuse.

Personally, if I was Keefe, I'd start dropping their ice time.,, and keep Nylander away from them. They're either being overworked / don't have the energy to score, or don't have the same hunger that the Leafs other lines are playing with.

Hopefully going into 7 somebody gives them a kick in the ### and makes them realize that now it's not just about getting through -- its about facing elimination.

I think Laine would be a bad pickup for the Leafs, would be like adding another Marner but much much worse. Laine needs to find his groove and prove he can still be a goal scorer, but he looks like a flash-in-pan player. I think the Leafs would be better off trying to pick at the corpse of the Penguins and getting Guentzel or Rust, or maybe doing a swap with Vancouver for someone like Boeser. Those options would all be cheaper and likely put up more points and have some postseason finishing ability.

He's the throw in, not a centrepiece and not a focal point as a shooter here.

You're right that he's not the feared shooter he was, but he doesn't need to be playing alongside either Matthews or Tavares, who are both strong setup men that can work well low.

He's basically the reverse Marner from a style perspective
