Honestly I think we see magic mitch in game 7. Don't go too far on the hot takes just yet.

Like I said if we lose then zero filters.

For me the damage is done. Being the hero in an crisis situation of your own creation is not all that commendable.

Someone - Paul Marner - has to grad this guy by the shoulders, shake some sense into him.

"Stop trying to be something you're not.

You're not going to score 40 goals a season. Stop trying to score. Start playing like you did during the year, where you facilitate and create for others who will score. The goals will come naturally, but not by trying to force them."

The "hasn't scored in XXXXX games" thing is really weighing heavily on Marner and he's just playing stupidly in the offensive zone. It's incredibly infuriating to watch.

Marner is trying to do Batman things with a Robin toolset.

Marner will go be a playoff hero wherever he gets traded. But I don't believe any more that he can do it here. Not while he's got all the pressure of being a fan (that comes with loads of Leafs trauma) AND getting paid way too much money. Too young, surrounded with the wrong people. If he can go somewhere where he can just play hockey, he'll be dynamite. He can do that in the regular season here, but he just can't seem to do it in the playoffs.

And in no way do I mean to let Matthews off the hook here. But if we have to trade 1 player from the core to shake things up, I think it's Marner.

f*** this is the kind of post that I hope I read in a month and laugh about.

I don't want the Rocket Scientists performing brain surgery on me.
I don't want the Brain Surgeons working on the Space Shuttles.

They are both excellent at what they do best, but they need to understand that they have limitations and adhere to their specialty...

Marner is forgetting what kind of player he is.

If Keefe isn't going to stop that, who the hell will?

Time and time again, he has shown to make unnecessary plays that often lead to errors.

Though I prefer to think that Marner can turn it around, I saw the writing on the wall a long time ago. This kid needs a sharp kick in the pants and a trade oughta do it.

It looks like everytime he touches the puck he immediately begins overthinking things and can't get anything done offensively

That over the glass penalty seemed like it was the result of his mind being a thousand miles away.

Considering where he was when he flipped the puck and all the time he had to make his decision, this is all so comical. Blame Matthews all you want, he deserves criticism, but Marner is next level.

As much as I'm leaning towards the "maybe Marner needs a change of scenery", people shouldn't expect to be blown away by return potential trade brings. I'll venture a guess any trade would involve Leafs carrying portion of his contract. You guys remember we're still paying for such trade involving mr. Kessel, right?
