After these big game experiences it seems clear we need a real culture shift in that room. And it can’t be on the fringes and still be centered on Marner.

Matthews and Marner obviously need to step up offensively, but the toxicity in this thread is amazing. Can't believe the vitriol in this thread for Marner when Matthews has done even less this series.
Marner made several big plays defensively this game. Both of them had a few good chances but anyone can go a short stretch of games without a lot of puck luck and unfortunately it seems to be hitting them both hard.
Both he and Matthews need to stop being so cute, put pucks on the net way quicker and go get dirty looking for rebounds for sure though. With the way Montreal is collapsing you're not going to get a lot of pretty goals. You're going to get deflections and screened shot goals and rebounds.

I’d have no issues with him if he didn’t make 11 million dollars. If he made 5-6, I’d just say whatever. That other 6 million Coukd add well needed depth to get Joe Thornton off the ice and into the press box
Marner had the game on his stick several times today and didnt shoot once.

Don't forget Dubas gave away a first so he could sign Marner to that contract. Because it was the "new reality" of the RFA market, when in reality he just got bullied like a b*%$# and no other GM's overpaid like he did.

Oh no, even if you blame Matthews for his no show which we should, the puck over glass with the sound of footsteps resulting in a 5 on 3 is so egregious it’s in another category of awful and unacceptable. Doesn’t change even if two guys helped the Leafs claw back to force OT.
Kessel for all his shit even showed up in the playoffs. He was scared as f*** to play against Chara and the Bruins in the regular season but still was a good player in the playoffs against them.
