What am I ignoring exactly?

"You just cited an example of a disagreement that was publicized. Cite the source of this disagreement.
The decision isn't between Tavares and Marleau. If the GM negotiated properly with the big three, we could have kept both"

wont multi msg for whatever reason, this is a direct quote from you yesterday, demanding Mezinger cite the source and ignoring him essentially because he didn't have the source. Now you want keep spouting this $9M crap about marner with no source. This was looking back to yesterday only there are many more examples of your agenda pushing and ignoring others.

I look forward to your reply but im not going to keep arguing with you, you are a meme on this site and have a opinion of yourself way above you actual level of knowledge

A trade could be worked out, not necessarily an offer sheet.

Agreed, as any team that is interested and considering perhaps giving Marner an OS would first try and exhaust all trade possibilities with the Leafs.

The offer sheet becomes the last resort not the first resort, only if a trade is not possible.

A trade also guarantees you get the player, while an offer sheet steal attempt is a 50/50 proposition at best and all you might be doing is assisting his current team is successfully getting the player under contract when they match your offer and keep him, which happens the majority of the time when an OS is attempted.

If it came down to it and the Leafs really felt for cap reasons they needed to part with Marner, I'm sure Dubas preference would also 1st be to get NHL and NHL ready players in return to help WIN NOW, as opposed to 4 future 1st some of which are 3-4 years down the road before that picks are even made.. That does nothing for the current 5 year Cup competitive window Leafs are in now !!.

PS. Its also much smarter of Dubas to trade him (using Arizona as the team example) getting recent 1st round picks like Clayton Keller and Jakob Chychrun already picked in the past included and ready to insert in the roster immediately in the deal instead of waiting on OS comp picks from 2022 and 2023.

Let him talk to other teams, Dubas should make a sneaky phone call to a few of the GM's and try and find out what they offered i suspect no one is offering him over 9.5m per, then go ahead and offer him that

I still firmly believe he should sign for 9.5m x 6/7/8 because that's what his comparables will probably receive

I think we're going to see the lovable hometown kid effect tested very soon. Not sure how pleased the fanbase at large will be if he does openly start talking with teams when that opportunity opens up. I'd say that is when the bridge starts to be set on fire. The only question becomes is whether the fire gets put out or whether the bridge goes up in flames entirely.

Hopefully this gets worked out. Fingers are crossed on that front. But you just never know how it will play out. When one party is absolutely unreasonable and has an inflated sense of value there are some gaps you can't cover. Hopefully it doesn't drag out either way.

amazing the poster you just replied to knows literally every single person in the NHL, every thread he has some sort of connection to the player in question
Toronto is a very small world at the AAA level. and most of the elite guys play together in the spring. and us former Marlies stay together forever. Unless you are in this world you would not understand.

Of course it’s it’s possible but seems very convenient every time

Seems like it would be easy enough to get vetted by HFBoards admins if you are claiming to have insider info. I thought that was a rule here?

My prediction is that Marner signs on Wednesday - 6 years at 9.8

LeBrun also just reported that another agent thinks it will fall at around 6x10

With Matthews and Nylander signed for the next 5 and JT for 6, I could see why Marner would be hesitant about committing to 8

If Marner signs for 10M x 8 years

Amongst forwards only

McDavid
Matthews
Tavares
Kane
Toews

would be ahead

He would be tied with Eichel and Kopitar.

I do t think it's that. I think agents are telling their clients that the cap will rise quite a bit around that time and so nobody wants to sign at 8 years.

Has anyone made a list of teams that have their own 4 1st round picks. I bet they are all perennial bottom feeders.

6 x 10 is laughable
That's the new landscape of the NHL unfortunately. He will still bring good value at that number because hes that good... all these other deals being signed are "insane" as well but it will seem fine within a year or two.

you are too funny, ignore anything that doesn't suit your agenda then keep spouting this "marner camp made an offer last year" crap. Could you be anymore transparent?

Kinda reminds you of a certain Soldier, eh.

It's getting bent yet again

If I'm Dubas I say if you want 10 you sign for 8 or you sit or sign elsewhere and we take the 4 1sts. This caving to every demand needs to stop or he won't have any semblance of a bluff

"Well it's not the exact numbers, doesn't count!"

You've already drawn a conclusion and won't accept anything to help change that, so there is no point in talking to you anymore.

I literally said better example. Would you feel better if I said good point?
