He has 5 Giveaways on the team so far in the playoffs, the most on the team... however, none that I can remember over the 2 games have resulted in any damage. He has the puck so much he is always going to have this issue. But he also has to be creative to be effective, but NOT in the defensive or neutral zones. He can do whatever he wants in the O-zone... but where he has made some corrections is in the more dangerous areas.

So I should have said he is not turning the puck over in dangerous areas.

Giveaways have been bad but its become part of his game, same as Draisaitl, if you look at their regular seasons. But look at his earlier years without Matthews and the gives and takes per 60. when he likely got a positive benefit from how other clubs had to defend. I suppose maybe the advanced stats support the move but I did not expect that. Anyways this is a tiny two game sample so probably happens a few times during a season, same as his zero giveaway games. The Habs style of play might be an influencer that well, as they force giveaways that don't often lead to scoring chances. I think I would be more worried if he wasn't getting shots on goal.

It's been nearly 8 postseason games of the same ol' with Marner. Good but not great and certainly not 11 million dollar worthy. Hoping he just needs time to adjust to the increased speed and reduced room (he typically gets better as seasons go on).

Beautiful pass on the GWG. Looked great on the PK.
He was on the ice for 3 of last 4 minutes protecting the lead, so that’s noteworthy. Had 5 shots, nice assist. That said, wasn’t his best tonight and that line wasn’t clicking, Hyman as well. He’s fighting it a bit for sure, but still doing some good things.

Yea, this wasn't peak Marner, but I thought he played well if you just compare him to normal players and not his own past performance. Made lots of contributions.

And yea, his line in general wasn't clicking, which is not all on him.

He was 4th in scoring in the entire league, and paced for 30 goals and 100 points, all the while playing very good D.

What more could you possibly want from a player?

Jesus. What is wrong with you people?

So your happy with his past 8 postseason games @Holymakinaw ?

Could you provide more context on why you think fans shouldn't be upset with past 8 postseason games? Should we be happy with his season and give him a pass on post season hockey?

Led all players with 24:00 minutes, 1 primary assist, 5 shots, plus 1, no giveaways, 1 block and was on the ice for 3 minutes to close out the win.

I mean hardly a tire fire. Could be better, especially on the PP, but man that’s a multifaceted mess right now.

Since he joined the Leafs as a kid 5 years ago, he's been our leading point getter in the post-season. Maybe think about that.

Was he amazing in last year's playoffs? Not really. But I don't get mad a young kids for learning and getting better. There WILL be growing pains. And if people can't accept growing pains, well...........no comment. :)

Leafs are playing a team without a star player and we're dominated (so I read) in the third. I quit watching in the second. Hardly something to be proud of. If leafs want to stand a chance in future rounds they need Marner to start playing like a star in the offensive zone.

Yes, actually, we can give Nylander Marner's money! Fantastic! We can give Nylander all of everyones salary! Hurrah for Nylander!

Wrong thread?

Not sure the first part is on him, but yes we need more. I think Hyman has been really off timing wise and it throwing off their flow, but that’s not to absolve Mitch, just not their usual playing off each other we’ve come to expect.

We don't say "you people" around here :sarcasm:
