Somebody really needs to get a new capgeek like website up and running soon. I figured it would be up within a few days with how hockey fans value their contract news and roster building. I'm not a fan of NHLnumbers.com. I also think they are associated with hockeybuzz as well now, so Eklund will be making bank off of people visiting it.

capnerd.com. Get it done you fools.

There is another one but the name is escaping me right now...

Edit: Got it - http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/

I've never used it though

Thank you. Much better. Funny that the Flyers are 30th in the league at spending on the LW. That would explain why they have terrible depth down that wing.

On another note, Boston and St Louis were rumored to be deep into talks involving a winger. People keep pointing out Oshie was their target. My question is, what were they discussing in the deal to get Boston a player like Oshie? He is a player I would love for the Flyers to jump into discussions as well.

Apparently this is a sign that's up in the Flyers locker room. Am I the only one that finds this silly/dumb? This has to be one of the least motivational things I've ever seen in a locker room.

I like it. At the end of the day it probably doesn't do anything for the team, but it also doesn't hurt. Just let's you know when you get there that you are playing for the team, not for yourself.

There are much better ways to say that though. This is said in the most ********* way

Senators’ European scouts Vaclav Burda and Mikko Ruutu, who were both at the world juniors, were in Philly Tuesday. The duo is on its way to Florida for scouting meetings that start Saturday.

We need another rumor thread I think. Around this time they really start to pick up, especially closer to February. This one isn't huge but maybe they were checking out some players on the Flyers but most likely catching up with their GM if he was in twon with the team.

That sign wouldn't motivate me at all. It's a veiled big brother threat. These people have no idea what they're doing. As someone who has some experience in this field -- it's not how you motivate people.

I second this. I would suggest a managed OP with rumors for each player grouped together. Example Coburn:

14 Nov 2013:
‏@DarrenDreger
Oilers offered three 2nd round picks for Braydon Coburn at the Draft and couldn't close the deal. Trades in season are much harder to make.

Next Coburn rumor etc.

Might include the rumored resignings for potential UFAs that could be on the trade block such as Schultz.

Obviously the Oilers would not give THIS year's first for Coburn, so I no longer consider them a viable trading partner (though as previously stated, I would be interested in a deal centering around Eberle and Coburn).

Seriously, I hope we can still get at least 2 of them, especially if they're high.

There's no way we trade Coburn for 2 second rounders when we were once offered 3 for him. Why would the Flyers management team do that. In the eyes of the fans his value has gone down because he is being asked to be the teams #1 which he isn't capable of doing. It's not his fault he struggles playing 22-25 minutes a night against other teams top line players as well as PK time. It's all difficult ice time for Coburn.

One of those 2nd rounders was high if I remember correctly too. I think 35th or 36th overall. The others were around 51 and 55 or something like that. That's not enough. It's why I believe you might see a late first from this draft and a 2nd rounder or prospect for us to trade him and rightfully so. It's not his fault he is put in a position to fail.

What team would Coburn be sent to (as in what team would need him) that could get us something like 20th to 24th overall?

People have mentioned the LA Kings as one team. Detroit(always looking for help on defense and Coburn would play the right side), Winnipeg, Vancouver, Chicago maybe, Montreal. Teams might start making runs a little later too like the Wild who could use an upgrade in the top four.

Just my speculation, but it's been documented that teams like him, that he would be a commodity. I don't think it's just a first rounder either. A first round pick this year as well as a 2nd rounder from next year or something around that type of deal.

Also, the Oilers offered 37, 56, and 57 for him. I just looked back at the draft.

Trade with Edmonton...

Coburn for their 1st from Pitt and Edmonton's 2nd for Coburn

I would be quite happy with that...but I don't see Edmonton doing that.

Make it a 2016 pick or they even might get an extra one from a Petry trade or another one down the line.

I highly doubt EDM is going to give up a first for Coburn. They arent a playoff team and bringing in Coburn doesnt turn them into one.

It's a traded pick, so they might put more value in moving it for an established NHL player who will help rebound the team instead of a player who helps them in 4 years. Coburn is what they need, a big defender who can skate and outlet and log large minutes. Edmonton has shown interest before but they pick to high in the draft to trade for Coburn. Now that they have the late 1st rounder it could make more sense to management.

We all know that if a GM gets told to get the team into the playoffs...deals can happen with only shortsightedness in mind.

Clearly they like Coburn and being a western born player, they might feel that he will re-sign.

If they know they can get a top pairing guy for a pick...I think they do it considering that all their kids coming up shoot left so they need somone on the right side. It also pushes Schultz down to the 2nd pairing which is much better.

And as stated...they could re-coup the 2nd+? from the Petry deal.

Umberger and Grossmann would have been scratched at least a couple of times already if what the sign says were true. Which is why they were fools for putting it up. We all know there are different rules for different players. Don't pretend other wise.

I think I would want more than that for Coburn. The Flyers 100% do not need to trade him. I'd like to trade him, and I'm sure they'd like to trade him too. But there is no need for it. If they offered three seconds at the draft, a first and 2nd doesn't get it done now. If we are talking about trading for "futures," I don't know exactly what my personal breaking point for trading Coburn is, but a 1st and 2nd is definitely not it. 1st, 2nd, legit NHL prospect (not a superstar, but a guy that we know will be an NHL regular) might get it done. With just a first and 2nd you have a good chance of getting an NHL regular with the first (not necessarily a good one, but a guy that has a good chance to play regular NHL minutes) and then pretty much just a chance of getting an NHL regular (and again, not necessarily a good one, but a guy that has a chance to play NHL minutes). That's not worth it for me to trade a guy that doesn't need to be traded.

And don't get me wrong, I am 100% in favor of trading Coburn, I just hold out for something better than a first and second. I'd want to deal more for Eberle in a deal involving Coburn, but I know that is not a popular plan.

Are you guys saying Grossmann isn't doing things "our way"? I'd say he's doing things Berube's way better than anyone else on the team.
