um ok...

The sign is just silly and unnecessary. It isn't going to motivate anyone

In reality, very few, if any signs really are going to have an effect on anyone. Also I don't think that sign is to motivate, but to set a tone of this being a team sport and coaches/players/management are not going to stand for someone thinking they are bigger than the team.

sure ok.
its too bad that sign means squat. Berube's personnel decisions show that.

Not really. Which players think they are bigger than the team and want to do things their own way?

Guy took a slapshot in the grill & came back into the game with no cage or protective shield.

I like how the two people on either side of his face look concerned about him.

do you really have to ask?

I guess I do. Someone mentioned Grossmann and Umberger on the previous page, but I haven't noticed anything from them that would think they were bigger than the team and unwilling to follow the team's philosophy. Vinny, maybe?

EDIT: There are guys who aren't very good that are getting playing time...but that is hardly the same thing as thinking you are bigger than the team and unwilling to change.

EDIT EDIT: In fact, I'd say that shows just the opposite. There may (emphasis on may) be better players on the roster, but certain players are doing it the right (read: Berube/Hextall's) way so they get more playing time.

I recall thinking at the time that sign was posted in the locker room, it was indirectly directed at Scott Hartnell and perhaps Vinny. It was posted shortly after the Hartnell trade I believe.

And I agree that the idea is fine, but the wording is horrendous and not motivating at all. Too many words, threatening message...not the way to go.

So this is what's happening now? The season is so boring and painful that people are arguing about a sign?

Damn, it's going to be a long season and offseason.

Didn't they used to have "Play for the crest on the front, not the name on the back" before?

Very minor, but I think "If you can't do things our way" has a bit of the management vs players tone. I would have preferred "the Flyer's way" which encompasses all.

And of course "our way" has come into question in recent years with Snider, Holmgren, and Clarke.

Laviolette is a great freaking coach btw. Just throwing that out there. Nashville was in lottery contention last year with a supposed great head coach in Barry Trotz, now they are a win behind ANH to lead the entire NHL.

Lavi can be great for a limited time, but Rinne bouncing back is playing a big part in Nashville's success.

Most people thought Nashville and Lavy were a match made in heaven. He has an elite defense that allows him to employ his aggressive style.

Even if he's only there for 3-4 years, he could very well be what they needed to get over the top in the Central and into real contention.

I did I did! He's got exactly what he needs in Nashville. Minus one pretty big piece which is a lack of 2way centers, BUT hes got something else hes never had in an ELITE Vezina worthy goaltender. FWIW The Preds defense also doesn't have a completely incompetent 3rd pairing as well (Kraicjek and Parent).

Awesome choice for the Preds, everyone says Lavi needs offensive players to succeed and its really quite the opposite. He needs an elite defense and 2 way centers. It's a super up-tempo system that squeezes every last bit of offense out of every player in the lineup, but you need defensive minded players to do it. People that can make up for mistakes and will hustle and make fantastic defensive plays.

Preds fit the bill, look for them to make waves in the west.
