Vegas is finding cracks in the Canucks early.

I (cringe) hope the Canucks adjust because I really think this could be the best in the entire playoffs.

this could be the best in the entire playoffs? what are you referring to in that statement? are you saying vegas could be the best team in the playoffs?

The Canucks are a hidden gem in the west in terms of fun hockey to watch. I expect you'll see better from them for the rest of the series.

I also think it could be the most entertaining series in the playoffs.

Sounds like Gaudreau might be done in Calgary. He’s got two years left on his deal before UFA this summer & the feeling is he won’t re-sign.
I can image trade like JVR + Ghost for Gaudreau (and I don't say that I want this)...

Carchidi tweeted about Laughton + Ghost + 1st. I can imagine this too, but it would be terrible I think.

On another side, I love Johnny Hockey. But he is LW. And we have already Giroux, Farabee and Lindblom on LWs. Do we want one of them on RW if we acquire Johnny Hockey? Idk.

Gaudreau doesn't make it through his first playoff series here without this board melting down about his lack of production and "not having a playoff body". He'd just join our "top talent that needs to produce" bin while everyone gleams over the "but he tries hard" players.

We both know that's not even going to be considered by the media or the fans. Realism has never been a roadblock before.

At best they'll say to add him and propose we do something stupid to open up cap room.

I mean, Gaudreau with 2.2M retained for Gost, 1st and 2nd! So easy!

Vegas made some really interesting acquisitions by trades the past two years. They gave up on two of their three first rounders from 2017 to land two 30 year old forwards, and it's working for them so far.

Vegas Golden Knights NHL Trade History - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

9/10/18 - Tatar, Suzuki, 2nd for Max Pac

2/25/19 - Brannstrom, 2nd for Stone

6/27/19 - Haula for Roy

2/19/20 - Two 2nds for Martinez

2/24/20 - 4th for Cousins

2/24/20 - Subban + 5th for Lehner

Theodore and Schmidt are really good dmen, but I'm surprised a bottom 4 of Martinez, McNabb, Holden and Whitecloud aren't more of a weakness.

When teams are determined to move star players, their value probably won't be as high as you might expect.

See O'Reilly, Ryan.

Is Babcock still a legitimate NHL option? Or is he semi-cancelled for being mean to Matthews?

On a slightly related note, a Leafs blogger the other day was talking about Hakstol maybe returning to the NCAA.

And Yeo was mentioned as a potential HC target for some teams... though that's hard to imagine given Gallant, Laviolette, Boudreau, and Babcock are available.
