Do you think the Flyers get more than a 6th from Boston? I think the answer is no.

I can't say for certain, but I do know that St. Louis was initially interested in Laughton until the focus got shifted to Hayes.

We'd have more than a 6th for sending Laughton to St. Louis and we could still have moved Hayes (not that it should have ever been the matter of greatest urgency from an asset standpoint and only became a priority due to a rift with the coach).

I imagine we can still find deals that work to send a center to Boston. Laughton for whichever 1st doesn't fulfill the conditions on the Bertuzzi trade, Lysell or Poitras, and a lesser pick would be (an overpay, but) a good bit of business that gives them a talented guy to help bolster one last cup run.

Or they could make me nauseous and just trade for Couturier. Price there would probably be lower than Laughton, since they'd be taking a chance on his health, but replacing Bergeron with 90% of Bergeron is about the best they're going to do.

Good thing we moved Hayes with such expedience. Clearly Boston won't have a gaping chasm down the middle when Krejci also elects to not return.

Was the possibility of a higher pick worth another day of Hayes ripping apart Torts’ culture from within? The long term consequences of waiting extra months could’ve proven dire.

Did you see what Duchene went for? Boston also would’ve offered a 6th rounder. Because that’s the market, and if I know one thing about markets it’s that they never change.

I am skeptical how reliable that rumor was about Laughton. I am not going to dispute that Torts killed any value Hayes had.
The local media sucks so I take things that are said with a grain of salt when they start talking.

Thank you for this, I don't have the energy to combat nonsensical contrarian narratives anymore.

I’d like to see the Blues trade Hayes to Boston for a 2nd now lol

I hate to say it but had Couturier been allowed to play in the last few meaningless games last season -- and I clarify that I was opposed to it -- he might have been a trade candidate to the Bruins.
Highly doubt it. No one is taking on that contract until he can prove he can still play. A few games last season wouldn't have been enough
