So Kostin didn’t get a QO either from the red wings. Now of course they can bring him back but this was probably one of Steve Y’s worst trades to date. I also believe there were rumors Edmonton wasn’t going to qualify him either, he got zero value out of taking two dumps

If that is one of his worst trades he's doing quite well.

The dead cap from that trade is 500k ish.

By non-tendering Kostin, the Red Wings eliminated the risk of a higher-than-desired salary arbitration award.

Detroit resigned Kostin at $2mil per.

I don’t get this logic. He traded for two players who a team was trying to legit get rid of. Then bought one out and didn’t qualify the other….. he didn’t get anything of value in return. How is this even remotely an alright trade?

Just learned they re-signed him at 2 million

Early negotiating rights? He didn't pay anything of value and he didn't eat any real money either.

I don't know his angle here but what did he pay in terms of cost? Almost nothing.

I guess Detroit thought they could get Kostin to agree to less than his QO or were at least hoping. I don’t really know why the bought out Yamamoto to be honest.

Yamamoto did jackshit riding shotgun with McDavid and Draisatl when given chance

He isn't a good player and doesn't offer much when not scoring

Wheeler was the last Thrasher left on the Jets. Also, my brain keeps wanting to call him "Pete" instead of "Blake."

Well he did select the right player in 2016. I know you dislike Tkachuk but I thought he was the best player I've seen in the playoffs in a long damn time. Guy was damn dynamite.
Neon Leon was also amazing, those two on the same team would be an absolute dream

With as many players signed today it seems to me that lots of talks have already been happening to some degree?

I can't imagine this many deals are done in 4 to 5 hours but I could be wrong.
