June 4th. Underrated Giroux goal.

One of my favorites. So sneaky

Ugh it's been so long since the team is likable. Right after that they began chipping away hard and fast.
That goal is all Kimmo.... and I was right behind the net to watch it. :)

G did a great job sneaking into a blind spot, but doesn't happen if Kimmo puts his head down and cranks a shot like most defenseman would do there.

Quebec wins the memorial cup. Had no clue Simon Gagne was an assistant coach there.

Guess we know where our head coach in 2028 is coming from.

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew "Jonesey" Camacho

I don’t think I’ll ever see a Flyer score another Cup Final goal.

Qmjhl with 7 wins out of the last 11 years. No longer the ugly step-sister.
True, but it's also a function of the Q teams loading up for championship runs. Quebec added 5 guys at the deadline to bolster the roster, including Robidas who led them in playoff scoring: Remparts de Québec – Remparts de Québec

All the leagues do it, the Q is just really good at it. Not sure about the WHL teams but Peterborough added several guys too.

The Flyers aren’t though because the people in charge now knew at the time that 19/20 was a fluke. (True story, Keith Jones said it)

It’s great to have adults in the front office now.
Did Jones say he knew it or that the FO knew it?

I think Vegas benefited a little more with the first go around given the newness to it & teams less prepared compared to Seattle draft. But the biggest benefit for both is still the clean slate of salary cap picture. Not that it was by design but also helped it happened around a flat cap era.

These teams paid like $500M+ in expansion fees, even percentage wise for inflation that’s considerably higher than previous fees.

Vegas got lucky that a few teams had terrible and unprepared GMs like Fletcher and Tallon. Those two idiots alone combined to give them 4 of their top 7 forwards in their inaugural season.

They still had to make the right moves, remember when everyone was slamming Francis last season for blowing the ED?

In a world where the Flyers hadn't hired backwards, maybe Briere gets a shot to hire someone like this.

I will always give Hextall credit for landing on an outsider like Hakstol and deciding to give him a shot.
