The contrast is Bedard might step into the NHL and flirt with 40 goals. Only 2 players in the last 30 years have scored 40 as rookies, and Ovechkin and Matthews were 20 and 19 y.o. respectfully, not 18. Push it to 35 goals, and you can add Laine and Crosby. He should hit the ground running -- I don't expect him to have the same issues as someone like Jack Hughes, who was just not NHL ready physically. Bedard is special, and he'll probably be alternating Rockets with Matthews.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like he's going to be fun to watch. Too bad we don't ever get those types here.

He's going to look real good launching those drag snapshots off after Kane finds him in the soft spots on Chicago's PP.

Do they have no plans to bring him back in the off season? I honestly haven't followed it much other then knowing he is a UFA this year.
Doesn't sound like it. I'm not sure he wants to be there either with the way they are tanking. He's well under a PPG and has a Yandle-esque -24 in 35 games.

Fair enough I haven't watched any of their games, I saw his raw stats were all pretty ugly (for him) but assumed that was just the effect of being on such a crap team.

I also haven't paid attention to his contract stuff. Just figured since he has already won he might want to just stay in Chicago, and adding Bedard might help convince him to stay.

That being said the Flyers jumping to second in the draft and picking somebody that tops out as a low end 1st liner and Chicago winning the draft, taking Bedard and resigning Kane, whom lead the Hawks to a super fast rebuild and a cup in 3 years seems like the path of #maximumpain.
