Canadian Dollar (I know they're paid in USD)? Canada? Rumors of them messing around with Gaudreau during his last contract negotiation? It could be anything, obviously.

The two main players that are leaving town are Americans so I can't help but think that probably plays a role in it. I know very little about Calgary but it doesn't exactly scream destination to me as an American.
You are an hour or so from the mountains paying in Canadian dollars while earning American dollars. Chinooks occur regularly so it’s not near as cold or for as long as most of the other Canadian markets other than Vancouver. It is a good place to live and a nice destination.

I think those rural Canadian cities like Calgary, Edmonton, & Winnipeg generally poll poorly in those player polls for most desired city in the league. I think Canada in general gets dinged for being a fishbowl with the fans & media there compared to the States.

Calgary’s going to be bad with Gaudreau so those perceived drawbacks with the off ice situation gets magnified.

I’m not trying to take shots here at those places but it’s fair to say it’s not for everybody. In Gaudreau & Tkachuk you have two American players from the Philadelphia & St. Louis metro areas respectively. That’s a far way home for both of those guys. The cultures are noticeably pretty different.
Yeah, if you're from a small town in Western Canada, Calgary might be an attractive place to settle down with a lot of money.
If you're from S Jersey, not so much.

I'm surprised he didn't ask her if she felt what she was wearing could be seen as "asking for it".

Why stop at just needing a anatomical excuse to just not want to have sex with someone?

It basically boils down to:

Lawyer: Did you try not being raped

Her: Yes.

Lawyer: **tugs collar, sweats** Uh I have to pee

According to Patrik Eliáš, Devils were apparently considering David Jiříček at #2 instead of Nemec. Reason quote "because there are not many right handed defensemen on the market" ....

Do they want a RHD who’s a former 8 overall pick? I’m told he’s probably a valuable player in the playoffs.

Be careful what you wish for department:

This cap squeeze that the Blue Jackets find themselves in was created by landing the top free agent on the market in Johnny Gaudreau, who ate up $9.75MM on his free agent payday. The team also added Erik Gudbranson at a $4MM cap hit and reached a multi-year deal with Adam Boqvist that raised his hit to $2.6MM. Now, Portzline tweets that a “perfect world” scenario for general manager Jarmo Kekalainen would be to clear $5-6MM in order to fit in the Laine extension.

There do seem to be some reasonably easy ways to clear that money from their current roster–Gustav Nyquist does not have trade protection and carries a cap hit of $5.5MM, for instance–but as Andy Strickland of Bally Sports Midwest tweeted today, NHL front offices are finding it extremely difficult to move expensive contracts this summer.

I am just glad that the Flyers do not have anything to be scared of because all but 1 contract on their books are by extremely good asset and cap manager Chuck Fletcher. So there is nothing to fear and Flyers fans do not have have to be careful what to wish for.
