Colorado is off to a weird start, 11 ES goals 10 PP goals, 3 SH goals.

Of course, when you're playing Rodriques and Compher on your 2nd line . . . with Landeskog out for 3 months, they're really thin up front.
You know they are really thin up front .
But then again , we claim a 29 year old forward that they do not consider good enough to beat out their thins .

The power of a GM depends on the FO, if the FO sides with the GM, the HC is soon history, if the FO supports the HC, the GM is usually history.

It'll be interesting to find out what happened behind the scenes going into the summer of 2021, did AV sell the FO on "I need my players" and Fletcher was given marching orders to clear out Ghost and Voracek and bring in the "right players."

If this was Fletcher's idea, I doubt he'd still have a job, if it was forced on him, then he may have survived b/c some advisors were quietly pushed to the curb (Barber seemed to have ascended, the others?).
Having been around for the Keith Allen years I just can't imagine a HC going to him and dictating roster composition. If they did Allen would have sent them packing. Fletcher needs to grow a set and emulate Allen.
I realize that it's the 2020's and times have changed but ultimately someone has to be in charge and make the big decisions. I don't think that Jamie Dimond goes with group think against his wishes at JPM. Collegiality only goes so far.

After looking at their roster, and watching Sedlak, they may have made a mistake.

AV had leverage, when you owe the Bank, $15K, the Bank owns you, when you owe the Bank $15M you own the bank.

HC salaries are much, much higher than the good old days, so signing a big name HC is giving them a lot of leverage.

Same way they're not going to pay AV $10M, Torts $12M, and hire a 3rd HC next season.
So Torts has a lot of leverage his first two seasons. After that, as dead money decreases, so does his leverage.
