I appreciate the vague description of the situation for those that that haven't seen and don't plan on seeing the incident

Not a problem. What sold me on the kick being intentional is that there is video evidence of the same player going for a big hit, missing, and sticking out his leg to make contact. The difference there is he went knee on knee with the player and in this case his leg somehow rode up higher and ..well you know know the rest.

We're always told how McDavid doesn't play defense, how do you think that'd go over in Tortsland?
I’m utterly baffled that anyone could think the joke would be on Torts if he had to coach McDavid.

Why? Because he didn’t call him the best player in the NHL a few years ago?

In these McDavid trade scenarios, are the Oilers committing to a rebuild or adding roster depth to save the season? Regardless, I can't think of a trade making sense for the Flyers unless they're the third team. I don't see how they can clear all that cap space and dream of being competitive for any portion of McDavid's remaining contract years. They'd be a worse version of the Oilers.

It was just a thought exercise, but I was assuming an Oilers rebuild. If the Flyers made a big trade with Edmonton, they’d probably target RANCH or RANCH instead. That’s not sarcasm.

I’m not speaking either into the world.

There isn’t a McDavid trade that makes sense for the Oilers, first and foremost.

Regarding what they’d get back…we have a reference with Eichel and like Eichel, no trade is going to happen unless McDavid decides not to play. At that point you’re just trying to maximize value

The Hughes brothers <3 <3 <3

Crazy how good each one is. Usually in these sports brothers situations there's a leader of the pack. Benji vs yadi, Aaron vs Austin Nola, the Stalls, etc etc

The Hughes' are going to be joining the Sedins and Kelces as being through and through dominant as a group of THREE which is fun.

RANCH?

I don't think that's a suitable reference because McDavid doesn't require spine surgery.

I can't imagine a deal with Edmonton that should be spoken into the world where the highest-profile player isn't going from Philadelphia to Edmonton.

Pending the completion of the appeal process, all players from the 2018 National Junior Team remain suspended by Hockey Canada and are currently ineligible to play, coach, officiate or volunteer with Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs.

It's weird how often Torts fans have to ignore what he says and does in their quest to defend him.

I'd second that thought. When I brought it up, like Jojo said, it was more of a thought exercise. I don't how Edmonton would ever get matching value back for McDavid.

I'd wonder if that 2024 1st would have more value than Michkov to GMs since that prospect is potentially closer to the NHL. Some GM would probably find Gauthier a more attractive piece by that logic as well.

I have to imagine that the only scenario where Edmonton trades McDavid is because he forced the team to trade him and the team goes into full on rebuild mode.

You could still trade them pieces like Hart or Konecny in that case, but it would be under the guise of "these are assets you can flip for even more prospects/draft capital". Otherwise, no team in the leauge has enough value in pure futures to match the value McDavid would command.
