Man I know its so unlikely, but among all the reasons to try and trade for McDavid #1 would be to troll John. Imagine McDavid being coached by John Tortorella

Man, what does a fair McDavid trade look like? Obviously now is different than a year or 2 away.

If you are talking Flyers, Michkov would certainly have to be part of the deal. How much value would he even have right now? who else? And how many first round picks? It’s more of a thought exercise type question.

Does any other team have a 100-point potential player not in the league?

Yea if a serious package would be put together you would have to think Michkov would be ask #1. Gauhtier probably ask #2. Maybe an NHL producing center or winger so Frost or TK. Or perhaps an NHL producing D so Sanheim. Plus at least 1st or maybe 2 1sts. That is probably McDavids value if he keeps scoring 100+ year after year.

If it's Ken Holland trading though we probably don't have to pony up that much. Probably Risto and a 1st would get it done

Ken Holland’s been living off something that happened almost two decades at this point despite showing no signs of being that guy since then.
What a career.

Buffalo can probably put together the best package, but this is a case where it feels like a 3 way may actually be required with a middle man turning a prime piece into more futures for Edmonton.

From the Flyers, you would need Michkov to agree to go to Edmonton….not going to guess that goes over well. If he won’t, you’d be at Gauthier + (the good futures you turn a prime piece into) + some salary + 3 1sts? Or maybe Frost instead of the third 1st? It would be astronomical.

Hextall doesn’t really catch much flak from Weise but I guess I wouldn’t really bash the guy who gave me the best payday of my career either.
Settlemeyer kept interrupting Weise so he couldn’t expound on Hextall.

Multiple times Weise referenced that Hextall ran things in a “weird” fashion that he didn’t experience with any other organization, yet instead of asking for examples or letting Weise explain, Settlemeyer seemed to intentionally step all over him & stop him from talking (I presume to protect Hextall, who’s his pal).

He’s no Barkov for sure, that’s the player you win with when it matters!

Whatever it would cost would cripple the franchise and mcdavid would still have no one to play with and then leave in FA

This franchise is already crippled. I'd trade every member of it, top to bottom, for McDavid. Then take my chances with free agents, Euro benders, and draft picks for the next few seasons. That would probably give us a better chance at a Cup then our current plan.

The draft picks traded to get McDavid?

I guess they determined his actions were far enough outside the scope of a normal or even fluke type of hockey play to warrant charges. Hard to disagree the more i've seen it. Looks to me like he did intend to hit him with his leg. The fact that he likely didn't intend to kick him in the throat, doesn't mean he isn't responsible for his death.

This is going to be an interesting case to follow for sure.

I appreciate the vague description of the situation for those that that haven't seen and don't plan on seeing the incident
