For what, answering Bolduc would be the most likely traded option, and then go on to say he doesn’t think he’ll be traded??

Exactly which part is he dunking on? I guess you’re right if you say the Blues will make a trade and the Blues won’t make a trade?

Forgive me if I embarrassed y'all on the main trade boards, I just...thought I could add some more younger players at positions of need by trading players we either can replace easier than others (Neighbours), players who don't seem to be in our plans (Bolduc), or prospects that seem redundant (Ralph, any of our second-tier wingers).

He was with Tampa earlier in season, but they sent him down. He isn’t far away from being good player from what I can tell. I thought he was potential target for Schenn before gourde deal. That deal tells me they likely keep him and let him grow role over next couple years. The picks they dealt won’t be able to help guy like Hedman and Kucherov win another Cup but geekie might.

What prospects?
 
Option 1) Trade Schenn for a nice return and pick in the top 10

Option 2) Keep Schenn, make the playoffs and lose in rd 1

Cowan probably has the most upside, middle 6 winger, maybe top 6. I know we have thoughts on various rankings, but Wheeler had him at 45 on his recent rankings, for Pronman's 23 and under he had Cowan at 99 and Minten at 111, Neighbours was 117 for reference.

Minten is probably a solid bottom 6 C, does a lot of stuff right, but probably limited offensive upside. Danford is 2nd or 3rd pair defensive defenseman, he was a later riser in the draft last year, someone I was looking at with our first 2nd round pick, but he picked up late 1st round pick steam leading up to the draft.

Cowan would be the big get, I'm not sure of Minten or Danford I'd prefer, I think both fill gaps for us.

If we got all three of Toronto's prospects for Schenn, I'd feel very bad about making the Nemec/Geekie thread on the main trade boards.

Cowan, Minten, and Danford have huge value around the league. They're Toronto's top prospects, so if we got them all for Schenn alone...OMFG.

Luke Schenn just sent to Pittsburgh from NSH. Army and Dubas worked together on our draft picks for the offer sheets. Maybe they work a 3-team trade with Toronto to reunite the Schenn brothers on the Leafs. We get two of three prospects (Minten & Danford) and a 3rd. Pittsburgh gets Cowan. Berube gets a woody!!!

Luke isnt worth anywhere near Cowan, plus we better be getting the best future in the package. Luke would prolly net the 3rd and we would pickup all 3 prospects and a cap dump.

This is unexpected. Why is Pittsburgh buying Luke if not to flip him? Have we heard any news about whether our Schenn is dressed for the game tonight? If he’s held out, we’ll know for sure. If not, why would Pittsburgh pull the trigger on Luke? Something’s definitely going on here.

Win or lose feels like some trades are happening tonight after the game.

Edit: Schenn is dressed and playing still doesn’t make sense to me form Pittsburgh perspective weird smoke signal lol.

If we move Schenn and get a depth cap dump type of guy back then go out and grab a young center.

Maybe that’s too much change to feel super confident about the playoffs. I think we’d need to see if it can hold up through a grind of games - after teams can watch us and plan against the new looks. It does seem the few guys who are available are doing okay as middle 6 centers but none of them are doing all the things Schenn is doing today. We’d have to see how the gaps get filled. We may be kinda matchup flawed like we were earlier in the season where we either crushed or got crushed every other game and made numerous changes before road and home games. Seems now we’ve overcome this.

A scenario where we add a 25 year old center or whatever it could be - will maybe be fun for a little but that player will still be developing while taking quality icetime.

What do you guys think we will have to add to our 2025 1st to get Brandt Clarke from LA?

And as a follow-up. What do you guys think of a potential trade where Faulk goes to EDM for Henrique? 2 bad underperforming players with just 1 year left on their contract. However, Edm can use a RD and we get a player with a lower caphit who can fill in on the 3rd line. Other moving parts will have to be included though. Would love to also be able to add Emil Vinni.

Depending on their goals, (if I’m them) either Dvorsky or Holloway and our first. RD is a premium position.
