Oilers have a odd decision on their hands, and it's not about goalies.

Connor Brown has no points in 9 games. He signed for 775,000 cap hit but is due 3.25 million in bonus once he plays 10 games. TSN talking if the Oilers cut him to save money since he has not delivered as expected the offense they hoped for. And just replace him with another bare min guy.

I can recall so many so called experts saying how good of a move it was for Edmonton to pick him up too

Is Edmonton hurting for money? This is idiotic. Don't quit on guys after 9 games

Trading Hart to Edmonton for a fleecing of picks with a cap dump coming back is a Jordan from the free throw line sized slam dunk. But this team is so out of touch with reality that they think they have a championship quality core to build around in Coots, Tippet, Hart, Laughton, and TK with Cates, York, Gauthier, and Foerster ready to put them over the top once they all hit their respective strides.

This is what they believe. They think this. Trading Hart for a cap dump and a royalty of assets is an outrageous idea to them

Can we trade him yet or are teams going to wait until all the WJC info is released?

Does Edmonton have enough value to return for Hart, though? I tried looking up scouting reports on their top prospect, Xavier Bourgault, and don't even know if he is an upgrade on Frost. We can also expect that their 1sts for the next couple of years will be late round, especially with competent goaltending.

Plus, Edmonton is capstrung so a salary dump will be required. The goalie I'm sure Holland would love to send back is Campbell, but he has a $5 million hit for 3 years after this one. No way this team should be touching that mess unless Edmonton is sending their 1sts until Kingdom Come. I suppose Hart + Seeler (lol, as if) for Skinner and either Kulak or Ceci would be the best cap-dump scenario.

Fun article when you think about some of the recent Flyer draft picks and acquisitions. A fun quote is below....It's a bit more complex than that, but it's a cool read.

While very hard shots are more repeatable, they seem to have less of an impact on offense.

There’s a much stronger relationship between hard shots and goals (R2 of 0.28) than there is for very hard shots (R2 of 0.10). Further, when it comes to year-to-year change, there is no relationship whatsoever between adding more very hard shots and scoring more goals. For hard shots, there’s a very small signal (R2 of 0.07).

Hard Shots = shots b/t 70-90 mph
very hard shots = 90+ mph

Also of note is what happened prior to the shot. Has the goalie needed to change and reset his angle? Or have you come mostly straight at him and fired one into his waiting body? The number of players with the raw speed to overwhelm goalies is small.
