Even I have to admit losing to the Sharks on Tuesday would look awful. I'm all for losing, but not that game. Keep the train going and put up 10+ goals please.

Yeah yep there are games I don't want to see them lose. That Vancouver game and a completely debacled and reeling Edmonton count too.

I know that they need to for the future, but some games hurt.

I can relate: in 1984 when I was 6 my dad took me to my first game at Shea vs the Pirates. Ron Darling was the Mets starter and got lit up for 10 runs and they lost 10-0. My second game later that year was much better: a 10-0 win vs the Cubs with the only hit off Doc being a Keith Moreland bunt single in the 5th that Ray Knight fielded but decided not to throw to first and conceded the single (which really was the right play). After the game everyone was talking about what they wanted to poor Ray Knight and you can probably figure out what that was.

If the Flyers traded Scott Laughton for a 1+2, we might be looking at the Eastern Conference Sharks. Would the pro tank crowd like that?

Who was the guy who was always campaigning for the Flyers to trade Ghost for Mantha?

the Capitals spoke with the Montreal Canadiens about taking on Mantha and his $5.7 million cap hit, but a deal has yet to be reached. According to Pagnotta, the Capitals and Habs discussions included Montreal forward Joel Armia, who would have been flipped to another team as part of a three-way move. It is unclear if those negotiations are still open.

Separate sources have also told TFP the Capitals spoke with the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks about Mantha, but the added sweetener to take on Mantha’s contract was not believed to be high enough to entice either team.

I thought the Mantha trade was an overpay, until it turned out that Vrana had issues, so it was more trash for trash than it first looked. But looks more and more like a Lucic situation.

He's only got this year left on his deal, so it would be an attractive salary dump for the Flyers at the right price. Maybe find a third party and flip him with 50% retained or a bad contract in return.
