Given how the 80’s went, this is actually surprising.

All the "nobody knew how to play defense or goal in the 80s" talk is driven by people watching highlight reels and thus it is overblown. The difference on averages is 1-2 extra goals scored per game; total, for both teams. Games averaged 7-8 goals then vs 6-7 now.

The Sharks are just being something else right now. And we get to see it!

And yet, the only thing keeping the Leafs afloat is Joseph Woll in goal, who is off to a great start but is it sustainable?

Could be like most goalies, he needed time to polish his game, 25 isn't old for a rookie goalie.

Matthews, Nylander, Marner and JT have 29 of Toronto's 35 goals.

Toronto is getting closer to the window closing:
JT (33), Jarnkork (32), Brodie (33), Klingberg (31), Giordano (40), McCabe (30)

It looks like Jack Hughes suffered a shoulder injury Friday night against the Blues. He's going to be out for a while. At least it's not a severe head injury and he won't need surgery. Don't want to see the Devils have a bad season and slip into the lottery again.
