What annoys me the most is how the Wild broadcasting team - and even Russo - try to tell the tale of the Dewar/Duhaime/Hartmann or Freddy G being the "4th" line when they are not deployed that way. That's just incorrect. The guys with the lowest ice time are the two "L"s and Rossi only has more because he occasionally gets PP2 time and is thrown on the ice more in the third. This narrative drives me nuts.

In any case if you look at total TOI it almost feels like the wild are playing 4 4th line guys based on their minutes because both Deweys do not have significant TOI 5vs5 either.

Really need to win against Preds or we can start talking about lottery picks again. Cant go wrong either way. I always enjoy playoff hockey, even if we are perpetual cannon fodder

So, if we lose out next two against STL and NSH we're in sell mode, win and we are staying put.

You know that means that we are going 1-0-1, right?

So, we are a 6 back of a WC spot(NSH/LA), in a clump with 3 other decent teams, STL, SEA, CAL. Still time to get in, but there is a lot of competition.

I'd assume they are moving someone anyway. They currently have 13 forwards, Foligno is still listed as day-to-day, trade Maroon if someone wants him or else he should also be back before the end of the season. They also signed Shaw to an NHL contract, I'd assume to play him at some point. With Marat coming as well it's just too many forwards even if you just send Lettieri and Lucchini back down. Could see them trading Duhaime and/or Dewar no matter how the next week goes.

I sure hope they trade Duhaime. I like him, but I think he's desired around the league, will return a decent pick (like a late 3rd), and is on an expiring contract anyway. Personally, I think a healthy Shaw is better than Duhaime, so I'm not sure there's much of a letdown there.

Speaking of that, Shaw's far better than Lucchini or Lettieri, so I wish they'd start getting him into some games. I'm not sure what the point is in letting him get his legs going in the AHL, just to ice his legs again in the NHL.

Move Maroon & Merrill (maybe Duhaime)

Sign Khusnutdinov

Kap - Ek - Boldy
Johansson - Rossi - Zucc
Khusnutdinov - Dewar - Hartman
Foligno - Gaudreau - Duhaime/Shaw

Lettieri and Luchinni might get claimed if sent down, not that i would get broken up about that. I don't think that they are worth much in trade. Duhaime and Dewar would be worth more, I think, so i guess that's why BG is dangling them a bit, and trying to consider if it's worth moving them, especially Duhaime, who will be a UFA.

I don't like the idea of losing either, because they are both fast, and IMO, improvements over Shaw, and L & L. Maroon is done... back surgery with an already slow guy. I'd be surprised if they can move him for anything more than a late pick.

Penciling Marat into the NHL lineup, after the KHL season he has had, would go against everything BG has talked about. Maybe he gives him a few token games? To not assure Yurov that he will get NHL games unless he earns them in the AHL, then give Marat NHL time right away sure seems inconsistent, to me.

What I want BG to do is get Yurov and Marat over here ASAP, even if it means he has to guarantee them some NHL games before AHL reassignment. Then it would make a bit of sense to move the Dueys, though i would far rather keep both, and move on from some of the older guys, but that ship has sailed because on the idiot contracts BG has handed out.

Pre knee injury, i'd say he was better, but let's not romanticize what he was. Tough, but little, with average speed ... a 4th liner, and not a great one because of his limitations. Who knows how much the knee operation (4th?) has affected him. He isn't even close to being as fast as Duhaime, and, as willing as he is, 5'9", 180, is not going to hit like 6'2", 205. It's not like Shaw is a puck wizard, either.

Billy wouldnt allow his boy Foligno to play 4th line!!

Russo notably saying they could try to trade Rossi this offseason…

Did you hear a recent interview where he said this? Because in The Athletic, the only thing he said is that this would be unlikely at the TDL would not typically the time to make this kind of trade. And IF they were going to move him, it would be a summer trade. He did say that the Wild may not yet be ready to commit long term to Rossi, just yet.

I think it would be stupid to trade him. They should sign him to a bridge deal after next season and re-evaluate.
