Yes, which is why the NCAA is a clear step up... which is my point.

Every step up the ladder, players are lost because they can't make said jump. When a prospect is making said transition successfully, they are doing what is being asked on draft day. Nobody is calling that a sure thing, just that it looks promising for their future. The next step up? More players will fail and the pool of successful players dwindles. You can only ask that a prospect succeeds in each rung of the ladder when they get there.

There's no doubt that right now, many of the alternatives to Stramel still look far more promising than Stramel. I think that's the only thing anyone is trying to say out of all of this.

It's kinda too bad we can't see what his numbers would look like if he wasn't playing with the same few guys he's been playing with for three years now who are all generally accepted by most of the industries' experts to be better players than he is. This is obviously not the normal situation for a guy moving up a step on the ladder. I'm sure that's helped lead to a more successful transition than usual(for all of them), but we may never know by how much.

Calling the NCAA a men’s league is so weird. That extra year of eligibility tilts the age upwards a bit. Isn’t the gopher goaltender about to* turn 26? Yeeesh.

And often times the oldest players and teams are not the best or most difficult to play against. A lot of the times, those are the guys who are 20 and under.

Rossi is tied with JEE for lead in even-strength scoring. Imagine if he was getting PP1 time or more ES time with 12 or 97.

I also think this shows that the Kap-Zucc connection has dried up at even strength. Too easy to defend, all you have to do is take away the cutesy cross-ice stuff.

Imagine taking Boldys BC team and putting them in the echl. That Boston team didn’t even win the championship and Boldy absolutely ripped up the ahl after his college days and went right to nhl.

Forgot to mention this, I like that Close choose the number 1 for his jersey number. Close 1, gave me and my buddy a chuckle at the game last Saturday.

Then you have teams like Quinnipiac last season, who clearly had a more physically mature team than the more skilled Gophers, as they primarily recruit players that will stay for 4 years... had 14 players 22yrso or older to start the season and only 1 player under 20 by season's end.

Gophers by comparison, had only 5 players 22yro or older to start the season, and 7 players under 20 by season's end.

Mankato is another example of a team that trends on the older side and gives the younger teams fits. They haven't had an under 20yro player start a season for them in 3 years.

So you know better than a guy who played 4 years at Mankato, then another 4+ in the ECHL?

I wonder if the Wild are one of the teams interested in Tsyplakov. He's got size, goal scoring, and we certainly have top six lineup spots available to win.

Foligno hurt again.
Hey don't fall apart man, you're signed for another four years with a full NMC

Beckman called up.

Foligno should be more like Zucc and just avoid all physical contact and defensive play. That way he can preserve his body throughout his generous retirement contract

Yeah Zucc is smarter, he'll probably still play for the Wild when he's 43.
Smaller well trained guys last longer...

If he's playing for the Wild at 43, that means the Wild haven't drafted/developed or signed anyone of note and they should probably be moved to Dallas.

5 points back from Blues with 3 games against them next month. If we can play 0.700 hockey next few weeks and steal 5/6 points from STL, I think we will be right back in it.

St Louis has a tough schedule coming up and if you look at the Wild March schedule, But there are other teams to worry about besides St Louis though. But I think the Wild will be in mix at the end, still think they fall short but they will screw up chances at a higher pick and still miss playoffs
