rossisaveus agreed on gus, i haven't seen him letting in beach ball goals so im still good with gus. we need to get younger faster not older slower and thats the real problem with the extentions.

I've criticized Kap as much as Zucc lately. It's not personal. My biggest beef has simply been the two of them together. It was way past time to start something new.

I feel quite invigorated and optimistic about tonights game. All the changes Dean made is about as perfect as possible given the players he have available at the moment. Changing the PP formation to 5 forwards is a bold move I did not see coming, but always wanted. So VG+ to Dean, even if we lose big tonight, he did everything we wanted him to do.

Now, Rangers have 6 straight wins, including 5 in a row on a long roadtrip out west. This is going to be a tough opponent. Last game they lost their top D Fox to injury and have called up 2 defenders from AHL, plus their goalie is hurt too. The key is to pressure those new guys and take advantage of their eventual rookie mistakes.

EDIT: One of the recalled players is a center, Jonny Brodzinski, and he is 30 years old, so no rookie. He played in St. Cloud and is from Minnesota.
My bad.

Hafta say, Lettieri hasn't been awful, but he's not exactly pushing anyone out of a job, either.

As an aside, if either Kakko or Oafreniere are available I’d be interested in them. Both guys have already had 40 point seasons and are way down the depth chart.

Gus is having a bad season so far. I know, the defense-pairings are not the best to work with (bottom 5 in the nhl hands down) but Gus has to be better.

Last night will look terrible on paper, but none of them were weak goals. First was a deflection he had no chance on. Second was deflected early on, but the main thing was that not only was Addison screening him, but Middleton was , too. Final goal he got to see, but had to come across the net, and it was a snipe off the pipe.

Agreed. I will give some credence to the naysayers because goaltenders should be able to keep the team in the game by making a steal of a save every so often.

But if you have to make that argument, it ignores the question "why does your goaltender need to consistently bail you out"?

Yes, Gus is struggling but he should also not be left out to dry with such high-chance shooting opportunities. Look at the amount of simple wrist shots from middle of the hashmarks, the most dangerous place for a goaltender.

Compare that to Binnington, a goalie thats putting good numbers but not on a top team. Opponents need to get alot closer to get the goals in.

There are a lot of things to like with this team, and not a lot of major weaknesses when healthy and playing to their potential. I know it’s early but I think I’m ready to be hurt again, I want to see these guys win a cup. Add a competent D man or two later in the season and I don’t see why it’s not possible if things come together.

Typical MN fans lol. They win 2 games and we start talking about Cups. LOL.

This team doesn't make the playoff's this year.

It would be so easy if that were the case, but looking in my crystal ball i see ahead of us ... a team that squeaks into the playoffs, and goes out in the first round....wait, things are hazy.... or possibly just miss the playoffs, and have the 14-16th pick?

Rossi and Faber have been a revelation, Gus not so much, Kap I'm on the fence, and the rest, same 'ol, same 'ol. I am a big believer in Spurgeon as a player and person, but as he ages his body will start to give out.

They've given up more goals than the Oilers (albeit in one more game). Not a great sign.

I think we've seen in years past that travelling abroad in-season often has a negative effect too. Takes a few days to get back in sync.

Make, or barely miss, it's just the way.

Also dealt with a heavy amount of injuries compared to previous years.

Also have slowly let our D core deteriorate since

Dakota Mermis has been in the ice for 13 goals against in 10 games, as soon as he is not on the top 4, the GA will drop drastically.

You think Dakota Mermis is the reason for those 13 goals? It has nothing to do with the other 5 guys on the ice?

I vote "Ready to be hurt again" as the team/marketing motto next year. I own zero Wild stuff but I'd buy the hell out of that shirt.

The biggest issue is that Lambos, O'Rourke, Hunt...and whoever else we drafted haven't exactly lit the AHL on fire.

Brodin - Faber
Lambos - Spurgeon
Middleton - O'Rourke/Hunt

Would have been a great top 6 if Lambos had put together his game and O'Rourke and Hunt developed a bit more, but progression isn't linear and prospects bust more often than not.
