I was pretty blase about losing Jack McBain but now he's outscoring Foligno at $1.6. I know he had the big game against Chicago and probably sucks in the room. Anyhow Arizona is doing what's right: if you're not contending, you should be rebuilding through younger guys and cheap prove-it deals. Not thanks for all you've done here's a retirement contract.

There are players' coaches who are ineffective because they remember all too well what it was like to be that player... Guerin is a players' GM.
Arizona is not a management team that anyone should model themselves after, in case you weren’t aware, they have had to forfeit multiple picks for management ineptitude in the last 5 years.

I'm not going to fault BG or any other teams GM for failing to sign a college free agent as long as there's a documented effort to get him signed ... and there was. They have all the leverage while NHL teams have a max they can offer in terms of AAV, unless they are willing to throw in huge bonuses where a projected bottom six player like McBain does not have precedent.

McBain was likely told he would be playing a year in the AHL and seeing how he would needed to beat Hartman/JEE/Gaudreau/Dewar, it made sense for a new prospect to develop. And also IMO is very fair. He wanted to skip that and go straight to the league and Arizona, a bottom NHL team with tons of roster openings, gave him that chance and a full NHL paycheck.

He probably also saw how our center competition could look over the next years, with Rossi and similar player of his type in Bankier, he would have a harder time. So he made full use of his leverage. Good on him - part of the business and a part everyone has to accept.

With the historical talk of the Russian factor fear when it comes to drafting players, I have always found it funny there isn't at least a inkling of that fear when it comes to drafting college-bound prospects. There isn't that fear of home sickness with college players but they arguably have the most leverage of any other type of prospect as their rights expire and they have the ability to become free agents if they so feel like.

They had to forfeit a 2020 2nd and a 2021 1st for one violation, and that violation was under old management. New management took over in September 2020 and hasn't had to forfeit any picks, but you tried?

Well, NJD barely beat us at home. If we stay out of the box we'll have a shot.
That´s the spirit. I´m probably wrong as usual, but we have lost 5 of the last 6 games and the defense have been shaky. Stay out of the box is needed against a 42,4% powerplay such as Devils, and I see hookings and slashings before my eyes when I close them.

Thanks. That's why my first sentence started "I was pretty blase about losing McBain." The point wasn't any particular mismanagement of the McBain situation under Guerin, it was paying a bunch of money to a player that doesn't really do much more than that in Foligno.

And yeah, I also get that Arizona isn't a franchise to emulate. But it would be nice to have a player like Cooley, or Keller in Minnesota. And it also wouldn't be a shock to see Arizona finish ahead of the Wild this year, as they move toward respectability by adding guys like Dumba (and Zucker and McBain) at minimal cost.

Poor Rossi...

Only when he takes a dumb penalty... which does happen too often.
It does. Of course, if he's scoring 25+ goals in a season, I can forgive a lot of penalties. Some of his penalties have even entertained me.
The one thing that's nice about Rossi on the 3rd line is that point expectations don't need to be there yet.
A silver lining to be sure, but an underrated one around here. I think he probably would produce in the top-6, but he's getting decent minutes, playing a complete game, putting up ok points, and doing so without any expectations in his current situation. It's not a bad way to break into the league.
lol...how are they going to separate those two?

Cut the bike in half, I guess.

Admittedly asking due to fantasy concerns....
Is Addison just flaming out right now? It looks like he's back in a PP specialist role recently and he's not even really producing in that capacity.
Considering Spurgeon is getting close to return...any thoughts about this guy's outlook? Thanks.

Sell, trade, waive, do whatever you have to do. Send him to AHL.
Don´t touch if he´s offered to you.

He’s looked less terrible the past few games to me, but I really don’t see him sticking around with the Wild much longer beyond this season. I don’t think they sell him this year just because our RHD depth is very thin while guys develop in the minors, but maybe by the deadline things change. He could still be “successful” in the NHL points wise, maybe, but he is really not a good overall player at this time.
