Spurgeon won't be next, Guerin will retire Kaprizov's number next year in an effort to get him to stay

You jest but I honestly wouldn't be surprised for something along those lines to actually happen.

We are doing everything to try to make Kaprizov happy in all the wrong areas instead of ... you know ... winning and scoring

It does. Of course, if he's scoring 25+ goals in a season, I can forgive a lot of penalties. Some of his penalties have even entertained me.

A silver lining to be sure, but an underrated one around here. I think he probably would produce in the top-6, but he's getting decent minutes, playing a complete game, putting up ok points, and doing so without any expectations in his current situation. It's not a bad way to break into the league.

Cut the bike in half, I guess.
Yeah, I just kind of came around to that realization today. I don't think it's bad especially considering where we started that Rossi is in a role where him flashing and playing well is all gravy rather than relying on him to play a really pivotal role ala Kap and Zucc so to speak.

I think that if we keep seeing what we're seeing he could be ready for that role and I would love to see him with Kap but I think this is a good thing right now.

We're relying on the appeal of the prospect pool that....Dean refuses to play when they do arrive

At some point, they are gonna have to start forcing Kaprizov to detox when it comes to Zucc. Or is he just gonna retire too when his emotional therapy pet hangs up the skates? The two of them are just feeding off of eachother right now when it comes to turnovers and lazy, costly errors. I don't mind Hartman staying on the top line, but The Turnover Twins need to be separated. It's gotta happen at some point. Kap has to learn to survive without his BFF or he'll be useless once Zucc retires.

He's been arguably the best player on the top line all season. Definitely top two.

Which do you think is more likely to take place over the remainder of the season - Hartman living up to a 4 million dollar contract or KK and Zucc getting back to normal form?

Hartman would have to fall off a cliff to not be worth 4 million. Being worth a 4 million contract really isn't all that hard in 2023 (and that makes the Foligno contract even more damning).

He's still being paid $1.7mil though.

If the 3 of them are on a line, it sounds like both would end up happening.

Outside of being allowed to Center KK and Zucc he has been a career 4th liner arguably can play up to a 3rd line role.

Dude has played 1 full 82 game season over his 7 year career so far - cant seem to not hurt himself and has eclipsed 30 points 4 times over that span. He is a career 44% in the FO circle etc.

I understand that 4 million in today's NHL isn't what it once was.....but Ryan Hartman's stats can be found for cheaper elsewhere....same with Foligno.

There is something to be said for durability and his lack of it, but I want to be sure you understand what he has been with the Wild. If we look at his last 2 years, plus his 9 games this year, he's scoring at a rate of 60.68 points per 82 games. If we look at his entire career with the Wild instead, which includes his two season in the bottom 6, he's scoring at a 49.4668 point pace per 82 games.

So, he's been pacing 50-60 points per season with the Wild, and that's not worth $4 million? I think it'd be worth $5+ million if he were more durable, and maybe stayed out of the box a bit more.

Well Zuccarello is completely cooked, he's not "returning" to anything

Admittedly asking due to fantasy concerns....
Is Addison just flaming out right now? It looks like he's back in a PP specialist role recently and he's not even really producing in that capacity.
Considering Spurgeon is getting close to return...any thoughts about this guy's outlook? Thanks.
he got screwed over by the gm when everybody else got paid, i would have demanded a trade. he got the absolute minimum billy could offer and hes probably pissed off.

The difference between the minimum and the maximum that could've been offered at the time was something like $50k.

And yes, sometimes the least important unsigned player of an offseason gets signed last, with whatever is remaining.

Jesper please?

I mean, Gus hasn't been great but the team upfront has been sooo horrid, I'm having a hard time clearly blaming the guy. And if the team is still really bad, I'm a bit hesitant of throwing Wallstedt into that fire and just bursting any sense of confidence.

Personally, I want to see 2-3 more games of the revamped forward lines before thinking of fixing the goaltending problems. Which might not be problems when we stop leaving so many high risk shots open.

Agreed. Why throw Wally in this dumpster fire?
