So I’m thinking Zucc likely tanks Kaps value to the point he might actually have to stay here. Of course the other edge of the sword is that we have to watch Kap try and carry Zucc because Evason is too poor of a coach to actually change anything meaningfully regarding their line. Man what a conundrum
I did have the thought the other day about what if it’s genius move to re-sign Zucc and keep them together so Zucc drags him down and he costs less. That’s way too conspiracy theory-esque for me though.

I’d like to see Zucc mentor Mermis on how to make popcorn in the press box.

Sounds like Boldy is hurt and may not play against MTL, then they'll go 11/7 with Mermis in the lineup. And with Flower in net... :help:

I also think it could be a good idea when Boldy is back to separate Zucc and Kirill for a while. Zucc should focus less on Kirill (even though it's part of his role to support him) and focus more on himself, look for shooting lanes. But he's stubborn, and Evason has a ton of respect for him, so we'll see.

I agree I think it’s hurting Zucc a little bit to have developed this Kap tunnel vision.

I like conspiracies

Zucc & Foligno should become American citizens and run for higher office if the reports of their legendary locker-room charisma are true.

Morning skate...what a fantastic blueline.

Brodin-Addison
Middleton-Faber
Merrill-Goligoski

Mermis probably on the 4th line.
Guerin said Boldy is week to week, but not LTIR.

ain't got time to worry bout that. I'm focussing on whether or not Dean should break up Brodin and Faber.

That defense....no Boldy....and Flower adding extra pressure by having two dozen family and friends there in case it's his last game in Montreal.....what could possibly go wrong?

Buckle up.

Incoming Fleury shutout.

So, Boldy out, Kap and Zucc playing like shit, and our best players are Rossi and Faber.:help:

Frustrating that we aren’t able to bring up Walker yet, he would be the obvious preference for Boldy’s spot right now IMO.

And the D just screams issues, but there aren’t really any options if you want to even attempt to have two usable pairs. Love Brodin but I don’t think he can carry Addison, who is really going to be in trouble if he is getting actual matchups and minutes. And Middleton just has no nuance to his game so you aren’t getting anything extra out of Brock outside of both those guys being good at clearing the net from the billions of shots our goalies are going to see for this stretch.

If Locker room antics won Stanley Cups we would have a dynasty.

Who needs talent when you can yuck it up pre and post game in the locker room.
Better a few chuckles with the boys than guys breaking their own bones in anger. :)

Montreal isn't very good and Brodin will be the best defenseman out there by a country kilometer, so at least they got that going for em.

So, we’ve got 14.7M in dead cap and 14.757M in injured week-to-week players that we can’t use their cap space to call up someone because they are not LTIR. That’s spectacular in it’s own right.

Is this the year we actually get a top 3 pick? I mean top line looks way off. Boldy and Spurgeon out for the first 10-15 games etc? I say give flower the starts and let’s see just how bad we can be. It’s not like we can do anything about it anyway. Sure would have been f***ing awesome to have been able to flip Foligno and Zucc for picks at the deadline.

Not even close. If Gus, one of Spurgeon/Brodin, and one of Kap/Boldy are injured for long stretches of time we might just miss the playoffs. There are some really bad teams in this league.

For those who think we have a really bad D, did you see the D that FLA is icing? And they are actually a good team.

Florida has some firepower though. We absolutely look anemic in comparison. I mean I could see us finishing something like 6-8th worst or so if things go sideways. We just need some luck in the lottery. If fans would just quit showing up maybe Bettman would gift us a Bedard???

For a couple years now Guerin has been saying a young guy or two need to step up. He never said anything against people stepping down.

If the Wild end up winning games with 65% of the cap of the teams they're facing, the managers of those teams should really take a hard look in the mirror.
