Minnesota Wild General Discussion - 2023-24

Suddenly, according to CapFriendly, Minnesota already has an estimated $48 million committed to just nine players. Make that around $51-52 million if you consider what Hartman will get.

Does Russo have some sort of insider scoop on Hartman getting lower AAV than Foligno? That seems crazy to me.

That would be quite the concession on Hartman's part, IMO. But he signed his last deal because he was tired of moving around, so maybe it'll happen again.

Anywhere in the $4.2M to $5.2M range would make him the 4th highest paid forward on the roster, behind Kaprizov, Boldy and Eriksson Ek, which seems pretty fair to me.

I’d like him to sign an identical deal to Foligno so we can put to rest this idea that what you actually contribute on the ice has any bearing on what Billy is willing to pay you.

Do we have any kind of evidence pointing to who they're gonna start the season with in net yet? Anyone reading tea leaves about how Fleury and Gus have been used so far?

Gus…? What tea leaves?

Whatever tea leaves people want to read. It should be Gus, but it should have been Gus a lot more often last year too, including game 2 of the playoffs, and it wasn't, so I'm still not convinced until we see it.

Just speculating here, but the Wild play at MTL for the 3rd game of the season and it makes sense that Fluery would get that start....so I think Fluery opens the season against FLA, Gus starts at TOR, with Fluery starting at MTL.

So do you think they're gonna do some kind of split pretty close to 50-50 through the season, if both guys stay healthy?

I think they'll split games to start the season with one of them (hopefully Gus) getting the majority of the starts as the season progresses.

Does Fleury have a 'games played in a season' streak he needs to keep going?

Not sure, but he is tied with two other guys for most wins in season opening games, so one more would give him that record.

Not sure, but he does have a "consecutive playoff appearances" streak which demands he starts at least one game in the postseason.

45 more games moves him into third for most regular season games played
8 more wins moves him into second for most regular season wins
19 more losses moves him into the top five for most regular season losses
4 more shutouts moves him into the top 10 for most career shutouts
160 more saves moves him into the top three for most career saves

That's my conspiracy theory for why he started game 2 last year.

So he'll be the 1A. Dang it.

My conspiracy theory is part of his agreement with Guerin for extending here was a guarantee for these kinds of opportunities, so similar to yours

I think Gus will get 50, Fleury 30, and The Wall 2

Damn it. There was a stat on Facebook about Fleury and season openers. I believe he needs one more win to tie or beat Brodeur.

I’ll see if I can find it again.

Guerin brings in retired players Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin to work for the Wild, both a part of Zuccarello's inner circle since the Rangers days. Interesting...
